Re: Da Bomb Line

This is my military themed bomb line shirt titles "Da Bomb Line". Couldn't resist designing another continuous line tee. Great theme this week!
Check out my other entry at:
http://shirt.woot.com/Derby/Entry.aspx?id=25765
It's tiltled "Air...Oh". It's an abstract GPS design.

It does say no portal designs in the rules.

I'd also like to note that I didn't technically just trace a photograph for the earth part, I did it a different way that took a few extra steps, to get the right look.

I also didn't use a tablet, which was a pain, I hope I get one for Christmas.

This might be a hard one to judge, since you can't actually follow the line from start to finish as far as I can see. It looks nice though. What does it play?

There is no beginning or end... the rules specify there can't be more than 2 ends, not that there can't be NO end as long as it is a continuous line. I guess I could have put a break in there somewhere but it looked better being nonbroken.

Guess I'll see if it's rejected on those grounds- if so, I'll throw a break in somewhere and resub.

Honestly, this is too low on the shirt. I know people say "no one tucks in their t-shirts anymore" but I know guys that do and they just wouldn't appreciate a controller in their pants. (don't most gamer nerds just flat out want a girl there anyway?)

I think it would have benefited from being on a gray instead (we don't have silver, and heather wouldn't have worked, so you're stuck with asphalt) but I would have made the line red to make it stand out and be vibrant, not subtle. There's nothing subtle about old skool consoles.

I don't see it...I made every effort to make sure all the lines connected, unless you mean the starting and end points. Which parts are you referring too?

When an intricate, detailed and complex design is entered, the masses say it's too busy. They say it'd make a good print but not a shirt. They call it cluttered or ugly.

When a boring, cluttered design is entered, they praise the artistry.

Collab with sekiyoku, we each worked on half of the image and then connected our lines in the end :D Resubbed with a lot of changes (a good amount of cleanup, slightly modified placement, and new colors)- hope you guys like it, and will definitely be posting detailed shots later if anyone is interested

Finally got around to finishing one. I didn't have time to do an artistic one, so I went for cute and simple. I have to give a shout out to my cat who was obviously the inspiration for this. Enjoy!

Re: On the Prowl

Wow... I was actually just finishing up a design with a tiger and the exact same color combo (a slightly more saturated blue, but not by much)... I'm not sure if I'll have time to get it where I want it for this derby though, so it may end up on DBH.

This is really well done--awesome work!

Hey, what happened to staying up late? You disappeared on me.

Yours lines are crazy, Ms. Hapa. Seems like you've had practice - did they make you do this stuff at RISD?

You did a wonderful job with the tiger's face. I also like your choice of black on asphalt. I know it won't be very visible, but I think I like that subtlety for this. I'm a little unsure of the girl though. GMV regardless.

Re: ...been hanging around this old town too long.

Just noticed the placement for this design. Strange, but I think it works. It's a bit awkward to be centred. Might be a bit too wide for a side placement to work perfectly, but I do think it works well enough. I can't think of any placement that would perfectly suit a design like this.
