Re: yincat-yangcat

wow. this is an amazing concept. personally, i don't like this much ink on my shirts. usually makes me feel too printed and sticky.

i think this concept could be transferred to something other than a yin/yang idea. with the yin/yang, this concept fits the intended outcome. while the two cats are hidden, they're supposed to be there. i would love to see this technique of texture patterning applied to something else with the objects just left for us to discover. the yin/yang hits me over the head too hard.

CHILLI20 wrote:I don't see it...I made every effort to make sure all the lines connected, unless you mean the starting and end points. Which parts are you referring too?

the hand holding the spear, for starters... that's the easiest place to see it's not connected to anything. I did a line trace from your larger version in the main thread and saw that while it traced through most of the bottom and over the top, you didn't connect to the detail work in the tabbard, and there's this little spot near the head. So based of those three points, somewhere you either stopped and came back, thinking you had connected it or thought you could fool the eye and did a little fudging. Either way, the linework on the hand holding the spear DEFINITELY gives it away as being multiple lines.

Here, I circled the areas I found.

Re: Times Square

Times Square inhales sharply and creates suction, but I like the shirt ... I'll give it a vote.

eHalcyon wrote:This is very cute, but the blurriness of the larger image worries me. It looks like it might be due to resizing the image up. Did you make sure to create the image at a higher resolution first? If it makes it to print, you need to be ready to submit a 16"x20" 300 dpi print ready file.

I quite like the design though.

thanks for the concern, but i think its just from resizing the thumbnail in PS. the vector image in my print file though is fine.
but thank you, ill make sure not to overlook that next time
thanks for voting! :D

great job!

Re: Deadline

This entry was resubmitted because the detail and shirt comp came out all fuzzy.
At this third try, everything looks spiffy.
...
Or, at least like it ought to.

What I told the judges:
"Even here at shirt.woot it pays to pay close attention to your deadlines. All one line, spec'd in Pantone 802 neon green ink."

Thank you for looking! Don't forget to vote for your favourites.

I agree. I always felt contests based around a design should, you know, include a design. Stuff that's devoid of any content or creativity is cool too, I guess.

I concur. I almost didn't click on it but was curious since it's listed as new. It's an outstanding comp and would be unfortunate if it didn't make it into the fog.. i thought it was a bottle or something... good luck!

I'd buy it. The gray is a great backdrop, and overall, the simplicity of the design is definitely an eyecatcher, especially once people figure out that it's just one straight line.

The only problem I have with this design (and every other shirt in this derby) is that aging will make the designs look terrible.

I love how it captures that exact feeling of the cat grabbing with all it has on the uncatchable beam! (the kind of grab that leaves them trying to extract their claws out of the carpet...)

Since this is only lines, there actually isn't that much ink on the shirt.

Both versions of this are amazing. I love the angularity of the lines in contrast to the softness of the overall image.
