Re: One Too Many Apples

I really love this one, Boots! My Internet has been out for a while - been having withdrawal!! Borrowed my husband's Broadband card, and had to make a quick pitstop here to see what's going on.

Love this one, especially the colors, and GMV, but... do apples REALLY have 3Grams of fat each??

Re: Look deep into my eyes

It's my rendition of Medusa. This took forever. There's some half-toning on her skin/face, which you may be able to see in the bigger picture. I was a little nervous about submitting a serious/non cartoony entry to shirt.woot, but the urge to draw a hot lady with flowing hair was too strong. D: So, uh.. Here goes! Let me know what you think.

Re: Tantalus

i like this shirt a lot, but i think the design would be a lot cooler at the bottom of the shirt, it's too much of a cut off as is. (meaning that the blue of the ground should rest along the bottom of the shirt.)

Your designs don't usually appeal to me, but I think this one is great! I only wish this was on navy.

Beautiful colors! This really stands out! Are they really NOT gradients? If they are, this will be rejected. If they're NOT, well, you did a fantastic job!

More makeup is rarely a good thing. I find girls with lots of makeup to be appalling.

Roger that. If I don't just remove it all together, maybe I'll re-submit it lower. Thanks for the input.

I really, really, really love the idea. But with a subject like mythology, I just don't think I like the cutesy anime style. I also distrust the yellow halftones around the flames and the lightning bolt, especially given what happened to the halftone gradient on today's shirt.

Also, I know that you are drawing from many mythologies, but it irks me that you've mixed Roman and Greek names in the design. I'm pro-Greek.

Oh wow, GREAT choice of topic. :D I remember reading the comics and watching the cartoon of this when I was a kid. I'm not sure about the color choice of blue for the design, but GMV anyway :D

Sun Wukong (The Monkey King)

The text on the shirt reads "Sun Wukong" in traditional Chinese (I spent about an hour verifying this just to make sure).

Well, the style I will not defend, as it's obviously just a personal preference thing. I actually tried a different style originally (more muscular/less cartoony people, etc.), but found it extremely difficult to make it valid with 6 colors, so I switched to a style that I felt was more suited to fewer colors (the design ended up taking around 14 hours in total because of all the redrawing/recoloring that I did)- As for the names, I was originally going to go with all Greek, but I got stuck on J and couldn't find anything else I liked, so I went with Juno with the excuse that it adds to the variety :P As for the halftone, I tried to go for a much larger one this time to avoid problems as much as possible

I kinda miss the mirror frame element from your original sketch because it reinforced the deco/nouveau influence so well. But I love the moody color scheme you went with, and the rendering of her face is great. I don't think you have anything to worry about, artistically at least, submitting a serious entry!

This is based on a story from Norse mythology. Gleipnir was a ribbon made to bind the wolf Fenrir. It was made from the roots of a mountain, spittle of a bird, beard of a woman, sinews of a bear, breath of a fish, and the sound of a cat's footfall.

Check out the Wikipedia articles on Gleipnir, Fenrir, and Tyr for more information.

Thanks. I wasn't sure about the frame, but it definitely looked ridiculous with the addition of the snake head. T_T I also just didn't want to deal with it anymore; I don't think I could pull it off that well and would just butcher the whole movement :D

I like this more than the serpent, more organic feel. GMV, really pretty.
