SaritaBeth wrote:anyhoo, I can see a lot of time and effort went into this. very cool idea. you have my appreciation on it, but not my vote sadly cause of the style/color thing. I have a strict rule that I only vote on what I will buy.

I appreciate that, I'm glad you didn't just dismiss it as a cutesy, simple, effortless shirt. I actually wanted to do something in a completely different style this week to change things up a bit, but I thought of this idea and really wanted to do it, and after multiple attempts, this was the only way I could see it through. I suppose you'll have to wait until next week to see a different style of design from me, but I'd like to think that this is quite different from the rest of the designs I've posted so far anyway

iGGz wrote:you really shouldn't do two shirts like this.. it splits your votes when they all could be on one shirt.. text or no text doesn't make much of a difference. so technically you could have about 95 votes if you only placed one shirt. Assuming no one voted for both.

That doesn't exactly make sense, since people can vote for as many shirts as they want. They can vote for both if they don't have a preference and want this shirt either way. Otherwise, now there's an option for those who wouldn't vote for it with the text, and an option for those who want/need the text. They wouldn't vote for it otherwise. Not a bad idea to submit it both ways at all. :\

Here's the idea behind "vote splitting".

Say you put up two versions of the design. I really like the design, especially version 2. Since I'd rather see version 2 get printed, maybe I'll vote for that one but not version 1. But if you had only submitted version 1, I would just vote for that one.

Flip this around for people who prefer version 1. Now, votes have been split between two designs, when they would be consolidated if only one version had been submitted.

It's only a theory, but I think it's sound. If ever I can't decide something (i.e. with colour options), I'll consider submitting multiple versions, but would remove all but one (the one with the most votes) before the 24 hour window was up. But it's only a theory.

ahuhu fair enough. just do something for me next week...anything NOT in blue. I don't mean the shirt color, but the art. and something that will print how you design it. I really love the red fish blue fish, as I am a huge Seuss fan. I would have bought it, if it printed like your comp. your comp is lovely, subtle and not too anime. love the water. but it didn't print like that from what I have seen. and I am a shirt buyer, hence my black box. at last count I was up to 48 shirts I think (many multiples of shirts for friends and family). You and Seki have some interesting things...I thought initially well of some of your designs..its just..between the two of you, it feels like some derbies are dominated by the same stuff. between your entries, hers, and colabs they become too much alike for my tastes. by all means, enter 5 designs. or however many your cramping hand can manage..just would love to see some different colors and style. Seki's wolf and plant thing was a nice change last derby. I was sorry that your titanic one got canned, and I even liked the little dead anime dudes. made it less gruesome ahuhu.

i normally don't comment on designs, but to see this in the fog is depressing. with luck this will fall quickly as newer (hopefully better) designs enter the fray. i haven't seen a shirt i would wear on woot for a long time now... oh well, keeps the $10 in my pocket anyhow.
