I would certainly buy and wear either shirt, so you have at least one man's vote.

I saw this, and thought..."wrestling the ham?...Ever just think about breadsticks??"

How's Paul Bunyan "OK" but John Henry is "off topic?"

I'm guessing.
REALLY guessing.

It may be because he's NOT fake.
I mean the topic is "Mythology" and not History. It is generally assumed that all things appearing will be both fictional and of a certain vintage.

*thinks they should have left currently believed fictions in the mix as well*

Okay, I'll shut-up now.

arcsus wrote:Not necessarily. For example...wooter purchases 3 Random shirts. That counts as only one Woot.

arcsus, there may be another explanation. According to shirtderbystats, this artist has only had 2 shirts come in as Derby chimps. I don't remember any non-derby shirts coming from her, but there may be some. It may be that KyuJones orders 3 of the same shirt per order.

I'm not really into the subject matter of this shirt, but the colors are striking. Another solid entry from the unstoppable gentry has my vote.

Ah, true. I only meant to point out that the color of the square by your user name is not necessarily an accurate indicator of how many shirts you purchased. But I see what you are saying. OP said half of his/her 15 shirts came from this artist, when that isn't possible with only one account. Even if OP bought 3 of each, that is still only 6 which is not half of 15. Unless op was grossly exaggerating (which - let's face it - is quite likely on the internet).

I like how my highly sarcastic and facetious comment led to this derail.

Which is why, when this wins, you're going to have to give me suggestions as to how one can wear this and still look cool. Because I will need to buy one. It's amazing, and if it places anywhere but first it will be robbed.

I totally agree. I'd love to see this win - unfortunately, the cutsey/anime crowd tends to dominate these derbys.

Very funny MJC. Made me legit laugh out loud. No I actually read it somewhere and then looked it up to make sure. I haven't been around that long and the three times I wanted a shirt it was sold out before I was able to get one. Never got around to looking for them in the reckoning.

Nothing like a good shirt.woot argument. Gets me through a whole class.

Re: Right on Track: Beat the Machine!

I totally disagree with this being 'off topic' as well. It's myths and LEGENDS. If this doesn't count neither should Johnny Appleseed, who was also based on a real person in the beginning and then grew to legendary status. And I'm sure many others that I'm not as familiar with. I'm not saying knock all the others out, I'm saying put this back in.
If you are rejecting it for the thumbnail not matching the shirt color, then say THAT instead.

Personally, I like the idea of them as portrayed. Some cheerleaders I've seen as a teacher certainly act as if they were the fates, planning the lives of all their fellow students.

Thank you. Its impossible to know what will be well received and what won't. Even if I don't get many votes on some of them, I like that I'm not jumping to the top with countless people thinking I'm undeserving or pointing out countless negatives. Even if the design doesn't appeal to the majority, I think people at least know I'm actually putting some effort into it. Glad you like it.

I don't know. These balloon guys are kinda chibi. And there are a bunch others that I think are right on the line, like this one. It really depends on your definition of anime. The term encompasses A LOT.

You say that this is not legend, I cannot believe you woot! You say in your abouts how American your shirts are, from thread to ink drop. Now, how can you say this but DENOTE an American folk tail?! John Henry, he had a hammer my friend!! Born and died with that hammer in his hand... you know it!
I can see other reasons why this should be rejected, but not because it's "off-topic," common, you and I both know that is a joke.

speedcheetah wrote:i'm not sure, but they might reject because the shirt comp is a different color than the shirt...

Cheetah is right; they'd reject you.... but you entered too late in the derby for it really to matter...

I WISH you had entered earlier, because this is GREAT! I had to call my whole family in to see it. Personally, since this derby DID allow text, I would have added the words on the shirt itself; but other people would probably disagree.

In any case, this is an AMAZING first submission, and you'd better believe that I will be looking out for your future entries! Please keep entering. Just check the dates on the bottom of the main derby page to know when the derby opens and closes.
(Theme gets announced Thursday afternoon, first submission accepted Friday afternoon).
Usually as soon as submissions open, there are a flood of entries. Then they come in pretty heavily the rest of Friday and Saturday, and pretty much if you don't have your submission in by the weekend, chances are pretty slim that you'll be able to amass enough votes to win. (This is all personal observation, BTW, not set in Woot-stone)

Good Luck!! Please give us more!!
