I just don't see the attraction of such an old idea as sucking up to the old-time gamer crowd. I remember these games in the bars. I remember seeing the people who played them. They weren't all that attractive then, and nostalgia aside, they aren't all that attractive now.

I didn't get it until I read the discussion. And I'm not counting on anyone to remember that much about Pac Man these days.

I don't think attracting the people who used to play PacMan in the bar is really the point. PacMan is kind of retro. Even if you weren't hard core into it -- even if you weren't even alive for it, everybody knows what PacMan is.

Artistic approaches to (not even) one dimensional characters are still kind of ironic, and since it's not a cute animal this time, it's not as hard for guys to wear.

I like the design except I just don't like how blue it is. Did it have to be on a blue shirt, especially on that shade of blue? Congrats though.

The point was to use a shirt color that matched the blue of the ghosts when they switch to edible after eating the special pellet, that way Brian could minimize the colors used in the design. It's a great way to use only two ink colors. Not the BEST design, but the minimalist color palette works for the piece.

Being formerly employed by Namco, I felt that this shirt is pretty cool and should get it. Though I don't expect the black to show up very well on royal blue, and I absolutely have too many blue shirts... I think I like it enough still. I certainly haven't bought any of the Mario or Tetris shirts. Some people were raised on things prior to Mario.

Don't look now, but the people who buy stuff on Woot (and actually, the interwebs in general) aren't what you would call "the beautiful people".

Would have bought this if it were a black shirt. I was thinking of ripping the design off and making myself a one-off shirt on CP, but if I'm going to infringe someone's copyright I guess I'd just as soon do something more clever.

To the guy who suggested that making the shirt royal blue instead of black was an elegant way to keep it down to two colors, er, one of the two colors is black.

BootsBoots, Jewelwing, TheJakey188, and Sokowa would disagree, and that's just a small sampling. (Jakey isn't a designer, but he has so many shirt pics ;) ) Don't generalize and say that people online aren't "the beautiful people". At least 4 of the many photos I could dig up say otherwise.

Rip off the design, and I hope woot comes after you with a lawsuit, since they own the design.

And I'm not a guy. I'd have thought my icon would prove otherwise, but if that can't get it through to you, maybe this can.
As for making the shirt on black, the amount of detail that would have been illustrated in blue would be too much and ruin the simplicity. Sure, it can be done, but the point of designing it this way is to show how the negative becomes the piece.

I wasn't trying to talk myself up and I wasn't trying to sound pompous. That would have been the perceived intention had I added myself. My point was, there are a great many people on the internet that are "beautiful people". And regardless of the current comment on my picture, the majority would not see me in that light so no need to put myself up to be scrutinized through a microscope.

I really like this shirt, and I'm a sucker for blue and white, especially since its my city's colors, too.

But I'm sick of not being able to buy randoms because I know I already bought everything I wanted. So my new strategy is to purposely not buy shirts I want, and try to magically get them in randoms. It seems fun, so I'll give it a try and save some money while I'm at it.

Other than that, though, fantastic shirt. Love it!

Totally off topic, but is there a reason why join dates and post counts have disappeared and been replaced by 'quality posts' of which, apparently, most of us have none? :|

It seems there's been a redesign. If you hover your cursor over someone's name, the join date and post count are still there. I'm assuming "quality posts" are those which have been featured in the highlighting-comments-on-the-shirt-of-the-day section on a shirt's front page.

Ah, I see. It does show up, along with some seemingly broken HTML code.

Not really a fan, I must say.

ETA: must have been my browser wonking, I don't get the weird html tags anymore. Hm.
