Re: Vintage Music

I would definitely buy this one. Nice colors.

Edit: Although, I'd prefer the records to be reversed (larger at the top and getting smaller at the bottom). Either way, though.

Wow. I love this new style you've got going on here. It's very different from what you usually do and very very cool. The red, black, and white combo really works for it too.

I think this is a really cool, clean design... the only thing I don't like is the women outlines... they kind of look naked (I guess their clothes are that tight) which sort of changes the mood to me. Otherwise I would buy this for me and my deejaying people...I really like the deejay's depth.

Thanks so much! I was experimenting designing a record for a whole other idea and then liked the way the record looked so much it got it's own shirt;)

L_o_L! Didn't notice. I was just trying to fill the lower space and thought some house roofs and chimneys would do it. They kinda do look like those. Maybe I should have put some hotels down over in Park Place

These little derbies we participate in are for the "wooters". It is what they want. So if you can make exactly what they want then you will end up in the fog time and time again. Who in their right mind would do something different and make it difficult to sell designs because most didn't get it. Is a great design great because one person says so (like you) or if many people say so?

How is this anime-styled pic not cutesy? Yeah it has a skeleton in it, but it's totally chibi; you could imagine a kid wearing this. Also, just because a majority of people vote for this, it doesn't mean this design is great. It's almost a literal translation of music piracy. Granted, it's executed well, but it doesn't take much thought to come up with this concept.

Really like the flow of the curves and what you did with it... I just don't like the giant treble clef (with with the cool stylizing)... it's just too big a symbol to the rest of the shirt (and to a normal staff), which I think is more attractive...if it were smaller, I would love totally buy this shirt.

This looks cool, but I would like to see a closeup. Could you post one?
I'm also curious to why you chose this orientation of the guitar...

meh. the weird shape of the skull kills it for me. This person would have one right eye in the normal position, their left eye would be located somewhere up on the higher portion of their forehead- eyebrow level at least. They'd have a teeny tiny nose. couldn't breathe at all through that thing. Finally, they'd have 4 front teeth on the top of theior mouth- flat, straight across. They'd look like some sort of circus geek. It's a freakshow.

Re: Simple Gifts

The song in the web is based on the Shaker tune Simple Gifts. It has an irregular time signature so that is why there are variants in the number of beats per measure. Also it isn't a perfect transposition of the tune. I improvised at the end. On a side note I really wish that real spiders would write music in their webs.

Re: Polkadot Tie (Collaboration)

Hey, Infobyte had a great idea related to my tie entry. He said, "Hey, what about a polka dot tie?"

Okay, so we did not talk about it that much, I saw his spoof of my tie on his site. It was with accordions and he called it a polka dot tie. The play on words was pretty funny in my book and I did tell him in a message that he should clean it up some and publish it.

Well, I am fairly certain that this is not going to happen, so, I thought I would go ahead and work it up real quick. It was fun, but I cannot take credit for it since it was his idea. If by some weird miracle of god this thing gets printed, I want Woot to see to it that the money is split properly. Also, if Infobyte either asks for this entry to be removed, tattles on it, etc. Please go ahead and reject it.

If Infobyte submits his version of the shirt with the polka dot tie then this one should be rejected.

wizard7926, I believe you are here (at shirt.woot) longer than me. You must have seen those entries and winning entries that use such thing before; because I did.

Please look at your first posting from my point of view. Knowing what I have seen before, do you honestly think I can bring myself to see your posting as a help? I am sorry if that what you really mean.

pazimzadeh wrote:The only thing I can think of, and this might be a lot of work, is to have him standing on a winning podium (on the second place part). What I am picturing in my head is that you try to center the podium off of the design so that all that you actually see on the image is a tiny part of the winning podium and the entire 2nd place podium...

Also, you don't need to show any other characters on the other podium, you just need to make it obvious that he didn't win

It'd also be good if you made the podium sort of faded or something so that the attention is kept on the main figure.

I don't know anything about T-shirt design or design in general so I don't know if this feasible...but anyways good luck; I really like your original design.

For what it's worth...considering all of the other suggestions, I "vote" for this one. (Replace present background with above version - podium - and hang a silver medal on him) Hey - maybe even have it look like people have been throwing peaches at him...

P.S. - looked at the other link mentioned...like this one better - other has too much yellow...

re: rebab

I like the Idea, the colors and the placement. I just have a really hard time seperating the elements. Perhaps a bit wider spacing or something in the future. I just know that if I cant tell 100% what the elements on the shirt are, a passerbye really isnt going to get it. Just having a hard time telling where elements start and stop.
