Cuuuttteee! You're good at making inanimate objects come to life with faces and arms (like the 'reading rainbow'). I like the background graphic too, and the unusual placement. The only thing I'm not sure about is the color of the tee... but gmv anyway!

Nice. I especially like the cymbal with the triangle/bells and of course bird on it.

Re: Music Pirate (resub)

its a great pic.. but look at it from more than five feet.. the ipod looks like a mouse.. its a skeleton playing cod..
the shirt is about the act of downloading.. not music

a fine editors choice. but not quite on the topic

davengvar wrote:1. I think the halftones are fine.

2. I would've gone for a brighter blue, one that was more sky-like, since your shirt is, after all, depicting the sky.

3. The red of the hydrogens stands out too much among the blue/yellow/green atoms. The red is too bright.

4. I almost want to say that all of the molecules should have been smaller. The size of the molecules makes the design more juvenile, I think. I wouldn't have added MORE molecules to the design though.

Thank you very much for your input!

Judging by the paltry 21 votes it's probably not worth the time I'll put into explaining it, but here goes: The bird sings the notes, then uses one of them to prop up the door so he can escape. So music is his means of escape and so on.

Maybe you should get radiomode to throw in a pirate, penguin or shark instead of the butterflies? I LOVE it and am glad to see something that looks a little more "girlish".

Haha, excellent idea (although I think expecting people to read drum notation is even more optimistic than expecting them to read this).

If they know anything about music, the 4/4 is no more of a "text" context than the notes themselves.

mitchellp wrote:I woulda probably gotten this if Maine (ME) was drawn without one of the great lakes or whatever that is in the upper left.

But for the musically inclined, we use "Mi" for the 3rd step of a major scale and "me" for a minor scale. :-)

And it should be "re" rather than "Ray"

re: music pirate (resub)

Last derby, I was upset with your design because I didn't feel it was any more on topic than my submission had been, and seeing v1 rejected did make a wee bit happy to see that you are, in fact, a real person, but they did have a good point that there really wasn't any direct music reference (a pun is a pun but when I make references to 1950s scifi, it nots necessarily obvious, like music pirating isn't necessarily obvious) but with the music notes, yes, it is now ON TOPIC (many shirts have ONLY music notes and are on topic, so a single music note IS enough to consider it on topic)...

...so it's nice to see a good design and you have my vote this time!

Considering there´s a lot of entries using music symbols that weren´t rejected because of text, I don´t think this one will be... A nice concept and a good execution. Well done!!
