The only thing I can think of, and this might be a lot of work, is to have him standing on a winning podium (on the second place part). What I am picturing in my head is that you try to center the podium off of the design so that all that you actually see on the image is a tiny part of the winning podium and the entire 2nd place podium...

Also, you don't need to show any other characters on the other podium, you just need to make it obvious that he didn't win

It'd also be good if you made the podium sort of faded or something so that the attention is kept on the main figure.

I don't know anything about T-shirt design or design in general so I don't know if this feasible...but anyways good luck; I really like your original design.

Maybe some imagery could be added that would help with aesthetics as well help to interpret what song it is? Off the top of my head, maybe a heart created within the waveform? Just a thought.

(recently there was a design that each of my two daughters bought the 3 Max amount each, and I did the same. THIS will be one of those!!!)

Need an opinion though: I really do not think many adult men will feel secure enough to wear this design, but could I give it to my almost-4 year old, budding-prodigy nephew? Any thoughts?

If I saw this design outside of the woot derby, I would still see it as a music pirate. Sure it could use a little something else to push that further, but I think it's completely understandable. And a music pirate should fit into the theme under "commentaries" about music (look at all the debate it has sparked).

Everyone should lay off the idea that it doesn't fit the theme. If you want to debate the subject matter in terms of right or wrong or whether you would wear it, that's different, but it is music themed as far as I'm concerned.

I like this one a lot.

The only thing I'm not a huge fan of is that each instrument is in its own separate box. I seem to see a lot of that anymore. It'd be pretty cool to have them lying around on a stage, or even a floor, as if they were left there by a group of kids. Just my personal opinion. GMV in any case.

Humorous shirt, and it GMV, but it's notated poorly:

You'll never see two dotted eight's barred together like that. Rather, you should have written it as a dotted eighth, then a sixteenth tied to another eighth note. Also, since the 3rd note in the full measure begins on an up beat, it should be written as an eighth tied to a quarter. The math is correct how you did it, it just looks awkward, not how true music would be written.

I thought the same thing about your design when I saw it. The squares across the chest is a classic t-shirt design though. Both shirts look good, but are totally different. Your shirt is more clever than mine though.

I like that you chose the olive green.

If you do submit an off-centered, I'd maybe place it lower as well. That's my personal taste anyway.

Boy do I feel like such a dummy...

I am resubmitting this because I realized I forgot to add strings to his violin! He'd have to be pretty amazing to be able to make beautiful music without them.
