;] You certainly did achieve that Boots. (Seriously, you did a great job stepping out of your comfort zone.)

Re: Of the Moment

YES! Orange! I've been looking for a nice orange shirt for a long time, and people rarely give orange a chance...
...although, this looks "clockwork" rather than "steampunk" :-/

Hmm, just went in for 3 Randoms, when I haven't bought any shirts lately (although still checking frequently) so what are the chances of liking them!?! Oh well, couldn't pass up the mystery!
...a number of shirts on teetrade.com

Looks quite a bit different. Body shape is different, background is different, the tail is in a different position...

It looks like it was used as a guide, but not traced.

Re: Combat Wombat

though i have purchased shirts here, i have never commented on anyone's art. but, i ran through the comments of a shirt that i bought (chloroflorohypnohype) and found a comment by you which invokes a response from me.

your quote to consumers interested in a questionable shirt: 'You woot people need to focus more on what is actually cool, and less on the snarky sort of hip cool you think you're showing off. This is a clear miss.'

...which makes me confused about your submitted entry 'combat wombat'.

i'm having trouble figuring how goggles and a gear (checklist items for a steampunk newbie) attach themselves to a wombat to make a design that is not the snarky sort of hip cool you think you're showing off.

at least Lucas Alcântara created a design that not only had a message (or two, depending on who was interpreting, as all art is a rorshach anyway), but created controversy, as well, which is the true mark of an artist.

where's your message? where's your controversy? a steampunk wombat?
really?

this, sir, is the clear miss.

No, it wasn't traced, also I added some more furry modifications to make him even less Mickey like.

Re: Steamworks Operatica

Before I type another word, I'd like to congratulate you for easily having the BEST representation of Steampunk in the entire derby.

With that said, this feels a bit too busy for me personally, and I likely wouldn't wear it. However, it is still a really great design and right now I can honestly say it is one of the only designs thus far that deserves to print. Great job on nailing the theme with a sledgehammer. Well done.

sailstud25 wrote:I've got a fever...

but really, where's the steampunk? this looks like just a clockwork type thing...

That bothered me about that dinosaurs shirt recently... was clockwork with mysterious steam coming out, but why?!?

Steampunk doesn't mean that it always needs to have a steam engine. It is more about how something would have been created back in Victorian times, which could/would include gears, etc.

Here's a detail of the slight change to make the game more accurate:

I don't feel the steampunk in this design. It looks like you added one gear and expected that to make it steampunk.

Thanks everyone. This did take forever, it's true.

Yea, it's very well done, I'm just not feeling it as a shirt I would wear. Still, I think you accomplished what you set out to do. Congrats, and good luck. ^_^

Something something something...run,

And I don't remember the rest.
Love,
good luck.

That's an interesting assumption, but I have to disagree completely.. besides the obvious Victorian DJ, the materials (dark woods, bronze, exposed wires, etc) are all reminiscent of steampunk design, not to mention the phonograph and the whole rig in general...
The gears for the player were an afterthought if anything. I'm surprised it's the only thing you noticed.
