I noticed the link in your signature and went to take a look. "We built this city on wheat and ore." HO. LY. AP. CRAY. I love it. But I can't bring myself to buy from any print-on-demand store. Is there any way you could try getting the design to a deal-a-day-you-keep-the-rights site like TeeFury or Ript Apparel?

And was that one from a past woot derby?

No not me! I have no musical talents whatsoever.

Also I believe the correct plural form of octopus is octopuses. I learned this other day from a coworker. Octopus is Greek, not Latin, so it's technically incorrect to add the i for plural, even though it's accepted in some dictionaries since it's now common use. Someone wiser than myself could probably elaborate on this.

The correct plural should be "octopodes" for the reasons you've given. The word comes from Greek "okto", eight, and "pous", feet.

Due to popular usage, however, "octopi" or "octopuses" are both acceptable and are arguably correct as well.

mrwednesday wrote:Hopefully not as well as QBF. For the record I voted for QBF and wanted it to print given the absolute Kazaam (1996) that did print in the exercise derby. I felt that momentum was completely lost in the double take and it edged a lot of deserving designs. If this doesn't get rejected but doesn't print, I hope it doesn't get an HM because of all the derbies, the double takes are supposed to be dedicated to rewarding quality that was missed not joke fads that fizzled.

I think Fable was talking about DF's physical move (as mentioned in his explanation for why he submitted a joke entry).

You know what isn't a cute animal, pisses off PETA, puts hair on your chest (for men), makes lips fuller (for the ladies), explosive, and needs your votes?

An incredibly well deserved fogging. Don't listen to anyone who calls this pandering- nothing this well illustrated is pandering. A tip of my hat to eHalc for the band name as well.

Let's see. I joined here last....April? My first derby was the dessert one. Since then I've probably only submitted, like, 7 things.

I usually don't end up getting my designs done on time, but this theme is so obscure and open that I can draw ANYTHING I want and make it make sense. Even though it totally doesn't make sense. :P

I also wrote some song lyrics - two verses, a chorus that changes, and a bridge. I don't have the skills to write music for it though. If anyone is interested, skilled and has free time and recording equipment, PM me!

I'm gonna keep the lyrics to myself for now though.

Re: the Pand

as rule i never look at any entrys to the derby until ive finished my own submission. but i planned this concept especially for the woot masses to be derivative and yet, not. so you can imagine my surprise when i discovered there were already two other panda bands before me. now i know what nickleback must feel like.

I just went through your SDS page look for it, but I didn't see a kid with an inhaler. Which derby was it?

The only one of yours that I recognized was the tree-paper design. e_e

One of the few designs I like so far, good work! It seems to blend with the asphalt better than the brown.
