Actually, as a student in Aeronautical Engineering, I see S as a frequently used variable to define area.

For example, the formula for the coefficient of lift is as follows:

C_L=L/((1/2)*q*S), where

L defines the lift force
q defines the dynamic pressure
S defines the planform (wing) area

The same applies for the coefficient of drag and pitching moment.

I personally dislike white shirts on shirt.woot because they just print generic. Look like something they pass out for free on spring break on the side of the road for product advertisement.

don't knock free t-shirts.

Personally, I don't mind the color, it's the circle at the bottom. Love the triangles, don't see the need for a circle...

you really dont understand? im sorry. so quick lesson on things that people should know. hot stuff comes from the earth's core (thats the center part), this hot stuff needs a place to go. so PRESSURE is needed in order to move this hot stuff. when enough PRESSURE is built up this hot stuff explodes via volcano.

This appears to be influenced by Stanley Donwood. He does all of Radiohead's artwork. I like it but not on white.

I personally don't wear white because I'm so pale that I look completely washed-out in white. I got Snowman in a batch of randoms once and it looked awful when I tried it on (and not just because I hated the design). So I'm always hesitant about white and even creme shirts.

I think this is my first post in an actual shirt thread... yay!

Wow man. I don't know if you made this design before Transformers 2 or not but you basically foreshadowed a scene right out of the movie.

There is a scene where the blocks are being torn away from the top of a pyramid and it looks pretty close to your design. Crazy...

I do love Radiohead, but this wasn't directly influenced by Donwood. I only got the OK Computer vibe from it when it was finished. Definitely not a bad thing, IMO.

It could stand for Surface Area. That would make sense.

powerfulpup wrote:I'm thinking "size".

But the formula is for the area of a triangle, so no, "size" doesn't make sense.

Kusariku wrote:It could stand for Surface Area. That would make sense.

That would have been my guess, but it's only called "Surface Area" when we're discussing 3D shapes. The formula is for the area of a 2D triangle (1/2 * base * height), so SA doesn't really work either.

I think that the write-up guy simply learned it with the letter S representing area. The letters don't always match up, and different people often use different letters for the same thing.
