Re: The Beginning and the End

ramyb, first of all, I love your art. Believe me, I wish I had the talent and technique you're able to archive. But after having a design in the fog for two days and then being rejected because mine seemed too similar to another shirt, I'm a little upset at woot. The comparison of my shirt to birth of the moon is like comparing your design to Good morning Starshine or Shiny. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of your style, it just frustrates me after so much work for a design that a lot of people were enjoying. And if it were for any other reason, I probably wouldn't be as disappointed for having my design rejected.

I'm not exactly sure what point I'm trying to make here, I guess it's just hard for me since this was the first derby that one of my designs made it into the fog.

Re: You're not one of us anymore, Pluto.

There was another good Pluto shirt design that they axed because it was "done before" which I think is apcray. They better not ax this one for the same reason. The one that was "done before" was on another site and was kind of crappy.

So woot, if you're reading this. DONT BE STUPID.

These look great, but their placement just doesn't work for me.
I also wonder if woot can get away with printing such likenesses.

This is the perfect derby for Sagan stuff. I give you both big props for making designs about him.
It's as impressive as the one guy who made a Hitchhiker's Guide design, only more serious, and real.

Nice design. Not sure if it is a good idea to put your name in the thumbnail though. Could be a bad precedent for future entries or designers.

I like this a lot too. Incredibly simple, yet kinda beautiful. I really like the movie Sunshine, and this reminds me of it. Good idea dude.

Re: Xenoproboscizoid

I really like the design of this one and it totally says "alien" so I feel it fits the outer space theme perfectly. Heather grey doesn't get much love on Woot, I'm working on having a tshirt in each shade so please print so I have a heather grey. Good Luck!

I love this design but just can't vote for it because I'm not seeing how it fits the derby theme. Gorgeous work though.

Think the white space of the matrix, think of the empyness, think of rebirth, a new beginning, what Aslan can create, think of all those suns.

Re: Orbital Rendezvous

This is pretty sweet. So maybe men WERE from Mars and women WERE from Venus. And they met somewhere in the middle. Or space was the only private place to find which I think is more the point. Either way, SCORE!... and by that I mean +1 vote of course. ;)

I love the shirt but also find the lead character a bit too retro (which is the point but just isn't my thing)... but then I started seeing it a bit differently. Those headsets they're wearing look a bit like the original XBOX headsets. So I imagine they've entered the online world of the newest space-themed-FPS completely unaware of how hard they are about to get PWNED by gamertag Drakxxx! +1

Jestik wrote:What I'm not understanding is why some submissions - like Boots, or Drakxxx's in the steampunk derby get rejected right off with no warning or explanation, for not having the exact woot template or color, but this one just has a note of "would you be a dear and download the new color?"

um....isn't this the same issue as Boots, Drakxxx, and others???

why isn't this one getting rejected?

just curious is all

While Ramy answered the question with respect to this design, it should be noted that Woot has, in the past, asked about the colour on other ambiguous entries, e.g. orange vs red or red vs cranberry. I feel that such leniency was more common in the past but Woot has been taking a harder line to it recently, where any noticeable deviance is rejected outright, no questions asked. "Noticeable" is subjective, of course, but so far I haven't seen any shirt colour rejections where I wasn't able to tell the difference beforehand.

I have no idea why wold be screaming for ice cream in space. Seems like it should be bigger on the shirt.
