I do see where you're coming from with your comment. I think I was really struck by the way the Maori chiefs wore feathered capes that seem in the pictures to really evoke the Kiwi. I just wanted to suggest that their tattoos came from the feather coloring of an obscure subspecies of kiwi.
I'd still like to have your support, anyway.

I was thinking this same exact thing. While I do love the illustration and think it would be a great shirt, this goes exactly with the statement of "This could totally be a tattoo". If I put a cool tribal symbol together you could say the same thing that "it has many tattoo elements", but that still fits the statement of "This could totally be a tattoo". Rules are meant to be broken I guess. But whatever it's just my opinion, I still think it's a great design and should win based on that alone, not the theme.

*edit. Nevermind, now that I think of it, most of the derby entries would fit into this same issue.

Tupac parody. This pug may be the runt of the litter but, he's bad to the bone. Dog Catchers got nothin' on him. He has a soft side, with a tattoo for his mother.

it seems you are finally getting the attention you deserve. unfortunately, its on a design that i dont really like very much. i think the concept is fantastic, and the layout is great too. i just think that you could have done a better job depicting tattoos lifting off her body. i dont know, there is just something about the way the tattoos are illustrated that i really dont care for. perhaps if you used a dark green color, it would have been better, i dont know.

good entry idea, i wish the face was a little more defined and separate from the needle, i had a hard time figuring out what was going on.
