The scales look backwards to me. Shouldn't they be going the other direction?

Congrats on the print. I waited to post my previous comments until this late because I didn't want to sway the voting and have people jumping on the bandwagon like in tgentry's Shiva design from the elements derby. The reservations were strictly personal and it was and is apparent that you did you best to respectfully produce this design. I'm guessing it will sell pretty well, the color choices really are great.

That's what happens when you don't use clip art Mel. Lesson learned. ;)

Backwards or not it still looks good.

Thanks, travis. It seemed like the votes were pretty constant. When I saw the dragon knock you out of the fog, I thought "I know how to lose to travis, I've done that lots of times! so I can deal with this!" ;^)
I really expected to end up behind your lovely design in sixth place.

Yeah, I've got to agree. When you look up the word "Bi***" in the dictionary its definition is "a female dog"...the other definitions (i.e., the usage which resulted in you disqualifying the entry) are listed as slang.

Don't really care, because I didn't like the design, but I didn't like the Kiwi even more. Woot's 3rd now? ... Lousy kiwi... grumble...

...Still grumbling... Can Woot print the greatest shirt ever made, Artulo's "Gonna Make You Lunch" instead? I would have that tattooed on me...

earthart wrote:I know this is late in the game to submit a new version, but after getting feedback from a number of people I went ahead and changed the shirt color. I made other minor tweaks as well (thanks for the feedback). If you like this version, please spare a vote. I welcome all feedback, good or bad. Thanks for looking.

Oh the pain! 69 votes in 12 hours, and had I gotten here sooner it would have been an even 70. I do like the blue option, I think it's more soothing than the olive; though if I were buying for me I'd purchase olive. (light blue just isn't my color - you just can't please everyone!)

Hope your drive was safe!

Hmmm, so...

...we can't verify the rights of the source image

It was rejected because they can't verify the license (presumably because it is in Chinese and they don't have a copy). Does that mean that if the image was verified to be public domain or at least acceptable usage via the publishers of the book, that it would not have been rejected?

In others words, is it acceptable to woot to submit entries that are largely created from clip art?

wow you got beat out by a lumpy kiwi, some vector scaffolding, a joke done wrong and a design that actually belongs in the fog
glad to see that at least one of the four designs that beat you is deserving

That's what I was thinking. Wouldn't it have been better to have a human getting the same tattoo from a robot? I dunno. Just thinking out-loud.

You can always delete it (with the little red x) and resubmit using the right pic. You will not lose any votes if you do it right away.

Very disappointing. I thought we had a newcomer with mad chops, not someone who's subbed before using a fake name and canned images.

Re: Weapon of mass disruption

Glad to see woot rejecting this because of the stock vectors (even if just because they couldn't authenticate). I never really saw the appeal of this one anyway, it's rise to the fog confused me a lot more than most. Hopefully woot will come down on stock vectors completely but I doubt it given how many they've already printed from the derbies.

and congrats to you! I've seen close ones before, and this may still turn out to be a tie, but wow, it was fun! I wasn't kidding when I said that I liked all of the top designs- I still believe that they would all make some fine shirts.

But in this derby you could use text, just not have text the only thing in the design.

I haven't bought a shirt in months, and I was finally hoping to break the dry spell. But nooooooooo, people had to vote for that lumpy dodo bird, vector cliche, and those robots. Seriously man, I've been regretting not being able to get your shirts since the Survivor shirt. People just don't see the awesomeness. As long as you're gonna be designing, I'm gonna be right here, waiting and hoping that a Drakxxx will finally win!!!

Not really. Humans are Humans. Think an Asian giving an American a chinese symbol tattoo. The robots in the picture are different, but they are both robots. So they speak a different language, think of it as different programming languages.

I guess you have to be a computer geek to get it

Manatees die most often from boat propellers. The ones that survive end up with scars from their cuts. At Sea World in Orlando the have a couple of dozen at any one time being treated and attempted to save.
