Maybe make the tails more rounded? Right now they look more like Reagles. Rat eagles.

Excellent design, but too blue for my tastes. Feels like it needs a slight touch of warmth.

Re: Death Star

HEY LOOK... A STAR WARS DESIGN!!! QUICK VOTE!!

It's the Death Star.... get it?

Typical tattoo style design with a star wars theme... but not with the general star wars characters.

And now for a new weekly feature on my designs...

I am placing the over/under on this design at 50 votes.

Re: Yeah, thats what it really says.

Wait, okay, i know what this is riffing on, so I 'get it'.

But they're both robots? Or ones a computer and the other is a robot?

In either case, wouldn't binary be the 'language of both of their pepole'(bots?) I don't know.

Maybe I'm thinking too hard?

Ok, that makes sense.

Just because there is a hibiscus, or in general, a koi fish, or skull, doesn't make it on theme in my opinion. Yes it is a popular tattoo element, but I am sure you can find just about anything that has been used in real tattoo. I have nothing bad to say about the design itself. I actually think it is very well done, and vibrant with the color choices. But what do I know, my arse is gonna get rejected probably anyways.

Nice, I like how you didn't just design the typical idea of a tattoo. Good job on interpreting the theme.

I think with there being not just one but several popular tattoo elements done in a style that approximates the style these elements are often done in means it is very much on topic. I'm not really worried that it will be rejected so much as surprised that people don't see it as a tattoo. But that's just me and woot might not see it my way. Time will tell.

Re: The Living Canvas

stunning as always! I think this works much better on a t-shirt than some of your other more "movie poster"-esqe compositions. I especially like the soft inkblot behind the point of contact, provides a contrast and focal point to the flowing blue design

I made the tails pointy so they could look like both tails and feathers. But thanks for the advice, I will give it a try and see how it looks.

mcosgrove wrote:If anyone finds this offensive, they are stupid and should seek clarification.

If it was a picture of the United States and said "Illiterate" over it, some people might find it offensive. Probably not violently offended - but why would you wear that shirt?

All that aside, I still say the joke's better if the characters are closer to a tattoo style and China's not in the design.

Thanks, I think the fact that the robot one in the fog now is doing well, pretty much kills my votes. I wish I would have steered clear of the whole robot idea now.

jewelwing wrote:I HAVE THE SAME OBSESSION!!

Seriously, did you think I was going to pass of a chance to legitimately make some antiquey nautical stuff? No way man. My obsession would not allow it.

My girlfriend and I have the same obsession. I have wanted to get a tattoo of an anchor on my chest for over a year. I wish woot did v-necks because this shirt would be perfect as a V.

None the less, i hope you print. I love your style and love to support it.

Take care and Goodluck

P.S My reason for loving anchors is that they signify change, when you no longer want to be docked/grounded.

What about you?

tgentry wrote:Thanks JK. I really hope woot sees the "tattooness" of this, I've seen tats like this all over the place. The themes are all very common as are the colors and the flowy linework. I'm sure it's getting tattled on galore, but I stand by it as a "tattoo" and not just an illustration.

I'm not sure how many wooters spend time in tattoo parlors....

The top designs are mostly about tattooing not tattoos themselves so this is kind of a standout in that respect. Preferences may differ but in California this style is incredibly popular and it is every bit as much on topic as the biker tattoos. For that matter, the only thing that distinguishes Draxxx's (which is also on topic) from this is the gun.

I don't see woot rejecting but if you are really concerned I would resub and list your influences in the title (japanese/hawaiian/etc) and it should be perfectly fine.
