And I'm really having to laugh, concerning Hillary is on a limited ingredient food dient now (and she is so not happy), and here she is, living out her wildest fantasy with a hot dog.

Also, there is something wrong with your final paragraph. For a clue, consider this: Eric Clapton, Soulja Boy, Paul McCartney and Aretha Franklin are all still making amazing music.

Ooooo, I love Soulja Boy!! He's also the only one relevant and selling records.

The cat's back paw/legs are much too thick, which bothers me too much to vote for this design. It's a cute idea, though.

Valid concern if you let that bother you...but I just look at it as a tribute to the derby history.
SkekTek could be starting something here...they could release a new bag each year with the past year's derby winners on it. lol

Hello AGrant311- I'm glad you approve of the design. Hillary and Wiley look very handsome in their latest photo. Sorry to hear about Hillary's restricted diet, but she'd be glad to know it's not just any hot dog, but one of those giant delicious Kosher ones, even bigger than what you can get at Costco.

dsdm wrote:Okay, due to the powers that be not phrasing the rules carefully before the derby began, and more importantly, before I made my original submission...

I don't think that's an accurate comment at all. From the original derby announcement on July 30:

Designs must incorporate our exclamation-point mark, included in each template. This can be scaled but not stretched, skewed, or otherwise altered. The exclamation point must be white on a solid background of black, Shirt.Woot blue, or Shirt.Woot yellow.

Looks pretty clear to me. The mark is not allowed to be "otherwise altered," and "must be white on a solid background of black, blue, or yellow." Not Woot's fault that you didn't read the rules carefully.

I know this is still very early in the derby, but I am so happy and grateful for how it has done so far. This is by far my best showing of the dozen or so derbies I have entered (I never made it to the fog before--never mind sustained fog--and haven't even spent too much time in the hotness before this entry).
...

It's hard to describe how good it is to see this doing SO well! Yes, there's still time on the clock, (and I know better than to call the game early!) but I'm hoping your hard work will continue to pay off in votes.

Your idea is VERY well executed, and in a design like this perfectionism counts. Fantastic job!

I did read the rules carefully, Woot didn't write them carefully.

And exclamation point is a punctuation mark that does not include a circle. Woot's logo is an exclamation point inside a circle. They said "our exclamation point" when they meant "our exclamation point logo." or just "our logo" My original design had a white exclamation point on a solid yellow background. My submission was within the bounds of the original wording, and I stand by my statement. And I wasn't the only person caught by this. I thought I read somewhere in the forum that there had been questions on this point that weren't answered until after the derby started and the first wave of rejections (which my entry somehow managed to slip through) occurred.

Now, admittedly, after I saw people get banned for this, I really should have made changes right then and resubmitted. I'll own that.

And I didn't intend to sound bitter about it. This is after all going to be representing Woot, and it should definitely be up to their standards. It was clear my idea wasn't going to win in any case, and I'm thrilled that so many people liked my design and voted for it. The rejection comment was even encouraging. All in all I'm pleased with how my first derby is going,

I can't thank you enough, not only for your great feedback and well wishes, but for working with me to bring this to life. It was worth it regardless of how the derby ultimately ends. I know better than to call anything I do perfect, but I am happy with the results (I know I could have continued tweaking forever). Thanks again for everything. Talk to you soon.
