not really impressed, but then again I don't make Tee shirt designs. I buy the ones I like, and this isn't one of them. sorry, congrats though.

This looks like a toy version of the tin-man from The Wizard of Oz. Maybe a childhood toy was the inspiration for the designer?

I'm a little disappointed to see two grey/black/white schemed shirts in a row on woot. Where's the color!?! : ) I don't really understand the concept behind this shirt, and besides that it looks incredibly 2d and doesn't pop off the shirt/page, compared to the other illustrations I looked up by the artist. Would've liked to have seen a different design up here by this artist - especially one with color.

(I feel like I'm completely repeating myself from yesterday's shirt.)

I am lettering my first comic story this weekend. If Mr. Ware happens to read these threads (I doubt it) and had any tips to share, I'd be eternally grateful!

I guess it's because Woot thinks he's a big deal. Have you been on American Life eHal?

This shirt makes me think of that skit on SNL for "Old Glory" insurance - "For when the metal ones decide to come for you - and they will. "

hahahaha

Cuz he's famous. Even more than Wil Wheaton. So he gets his name on the shirt title.

Wow! I can not believe that Woot got Chris Ware to design a shirt. He's an absolute genius. I'm in for 2.

Because he's CHRIS WARE!

Interesting fact: I would be quicker to buy if the banner read O.M.F.G. CHRIS WARE MADE THIS instead.

Can we get that shirt next?

Kind of a primitive 50's looking space robot, with amazingly human looking hands and feet. Weird.

Man, it'd be nice if woot could find a famous person to make a shirt who was actually good at making shirts.

This is sort of like asking Mick Jagger to cook for you. It doesn't matter how famous he is, the quality isn't necessarily gonna be there.

Id rather fist fight a manatee than buy this dull, unimaginative shirt... Actually, fist fighting a manatee would be pretty cool regardless.

eHalcyon wrote:Why is the artist's name in the shirt title?

Because he's more important than the lowly, smelly artists who haven't even self-published their way to Wikipedia's standards of notability.

Snark aside: Decent shirt, but like the Wil Wheaton shirt before it it seems awkward to give any artist special treatment. Between the charity and the itching feeling that he's probably more talented/influential than I realize, I can let it go.

So...is someone going to explain this shirt, to all of us that don't get his humor? Just plain befuddled...
