i remember i got a shirt similar to this concept on shirt.woot before... http://shirt.woot.com/Friends.aspx?k=8041
Toro Nagashi usually takes place at the end of the Obon Festival - but it can take place at any other time to guide the departed souls back to the spirit world. Paper lanterns on wooden planks are lit and set afloat on a river with personal messages.

Re: Chopsticks Yatta!!!
Actually, there is an additional character in the central bit of text, but it's probably still too close to the original.

One of my favorites!

Hello guys, my first submission for a derby! I'm so exited!
Re: She Never Sleeps
i LOVE THIS!
Re: Forgotten Past
for some reason this reminds me of PONYO. =]
Your idea completely translated and the color choice is awesome. I would definitely wear this one. You have my vote!

Patrick, you're amazing! +1

Sheesh, you need a Xanax or something?

Looks really cool. Great work you two.
Re: Karasu Tengu (Resub)
Trying a less harsh backdrop for this little goblin - turns out I like it much better. Also saved the shirt comp image as a png, to cut down the compression artifacts, which were bugging me. Detailed comp can be found here: http://fc03.deviantart.com/fs29/i/2009/254/c/1/Karasu_Tengu_Variant_by_VividAnima.png

Mmm. Looks too tall to be Tom Cruise. "Last week we had Ramby's dripping moon, Seki's dripping rose, and now a dripping sun...is this the new trend?"--Paradox 55 I hope not. I really dislike drippy.
Re: big girl tokyo
BIG GIRL TOKYO!!! here is a bit better view of it. hope everyone enjoys!
mrwednesday wrote:Looks more like a flying spaghetti monster.
maybe an eyeless, falling spaghetti monster. But decidedly not a sun. The stylization makes it so that even if we can make out the sun-like imagery, it's really not at all indicative of japan anymore.
dagnyv wrote:This is nice. What does the text say?
It says "Way of Bonsai"
Re: Shouri
Love the design, but not the background color. I'm already pale, and white tees just do not help that. Biased opinion, but there you have it. Best of luck to you, though!

I like this version better too. GMV.
OK this is super cute!!!!
Re: Tokyo Demolition
LOL! Awesome design, though I agree that having the little running guy in there would make it even better. Something tells me a lot of otakus will be wearing this at the Kon next year... :-)
Where did you come from? You are so good. xD Will make this 2/2 for your shirts when it prints.
Re: Toro Nagashi
Very nice. +1

Thanks! i glad you like it
Terrible thumbnail for this. I thought it was just some hands and a crane until I clicked on it and was pleasantly surprised that it's actually a pretty sweet design after all!
Walmazan resub your design on a shirt comp your design will get rejected for sure like this (look at others designs) you will get your votes back
GMV
Re: Scatter Blossom
Awesome concept. I love your design and color choices.
I really like this one a lot. The style of the fish and it's expression are great. Awesome work! GMV. What do the Japanese words mean?
Re: A Beginner's Guide to Origami
Not to be too nit picky but if you use scissors, then you're technically doing kirigami (cut paper) rather than origami (folded paper). That said, if you open up any of my origami books, any number of poorly folded/mangled half completed models will fall out. I certainly understand the pain.
Very nice change. Voted again.
I will totally buy this if it wins.
