No, submit it.

I like the kelly...but to be honest I don't think a lot of people will have any idea of what it is. It kind of looks like a blob or mass of design. Which some people may like but i doubt it will get you many votes. Maybe try adding a bunch of spaceships and maybe Old Faithful spewing out green stuff?

Like others already said, don't use any bottom line! Instead write "Bear Back" above and "National Park" below your design.

And when colouring maybe you would want to use "used"/old/washed-out colours.

I don't know if I agree. I like that the bear back is in one line cause it forces you to read it, put the words together, and chuckle. With the National Park below it just kind of reminds me of a Spencer's t shirt.

sugareeali wrote:Really? So you come up with the idea and she designs it? Wow...I didn't know anyone did that. Would you split the winnings?

Well... It's not like I just go "Here's my idea.... DRAW IT!!!"

First of all, it's my Mum... Not like I hired some random artist. I help quite a bit with the layout, I usually provide a rough sketch and I'll usually be with her as she's drawing it up.

Unfortunately for me there's a disconnect between my mind and hand when it comes to drawing so whenever I try to draw something it comes out looking like something an untalented 2nd grader would draw.

I got tired of seeing all the derby themes, having (questionably) good ideas, but nothing to do with them. So we were talking about it, and thought it'd be fun and a way to potentially make a little extra cash (maybe, someday) so we decided to team up.

We do plan on splitting the winnings if it ever happens... but for now we're just doing the designs in our spare time for the fun of it.

I actually was just talking to one of my best friends the other day and he's interested in working with me on some designs too.

So basically... sorry for the really long answer... that's the backstory.

Munchy Attack If you can find the name of this artist & real song title I'll buy you a daily woot shirt (your choice what day)

Dystopia Dark Lager, Where the Wild Parties at?, B.A. Bearacus, and many more wanted in XXL(PLEASE!!!)

Man, what a tough call. At first I didn't think it was on theme enough. But I bet it would pass. If it doesn't, you still could get an HM and/or use it in 60 (90) days again. Either way, it's well executed. Great job and good luck!

I love the design and I agree you can always use it "later" my only suggestion is the colors seem a little off or dull, i know you're limited maybe you did the best with what you had, not sure just think about it though. Awesome idea and good luck, id wear it!

Hi Boots,

I know I'm chiming in late so take my comments for what you will, but I definitely wish that either the last line (please don't feed the bears) wasn't on the shirt or that there were bears in the picture to go along with the caption. As it is, I get it, but it feels like that line was thrown in just to make the joke a stronger.

I would prefer to see the concept broken out into two separate shirts, one highlighting the deer creatures, the other with bears. It would be like two shirts from the same park gift store.

Since it's so close to derby-time, I doubt you're interested in making large-scale revisions but I just wanted to add my $0.02 for the record.

I appreciate it. I actually did consider turning the creatures into bears, but I decided I liked that they looked like weird non-animals. Kind of my own personal flair in there. I knew people were going to want bears though!

Thanks sugareeali, and everyone else who suggested a betamax, or a tuning fork. I actually had an old projector in place of the TV but with the real to real next to it they got a little confusing.

They still use betamax btw, at television stations. Not sure exactly why though.

This design makes me a little sad too, I still use records, real to reals, and I have an old CRT television.

So far lovin it and the changes were good. I actually would like it less if it were two bears with the tag line below. It makes it more odd that way, which I like. I do agree that it might help to seperate the color difference a little bit more between the tree's and the deer. GMV second week in a row either way.

Good point manvyi... I will try to have him match a bit more...

@sugareeali - thanks.. I actually really like the planet park design and spent a LOT of time on it, but since it seems like people may not get it without my adding elements I don't really want to, I think I'll hold on to it, maybe submit it for something else. Appreciate your thoughts, they cemented my decision on that - thanks!

Speaking of the antlers... the one on the left... looks like both antlers are coming from it's other side.

I know I'm not one to point out detail errors... but there you go.

Also as far as bears vs. whatevers... It wouldn't make much sense to have bears complimenting the flavor of the grass. Salmon, Honey, Picnic Baskets, Campers sure. Grass not so much. If this point has already been made, sorry, i guess it'd go with the redundant theme of the shirt.

I viewed it as two elk/deerish animals, and the shirt pleaded with people to not feed the bears so they would eat the dumb prey.

Fair enough. It's still a nice concept and I'm all for personal flair. I was pushing to turn this into two shirts because I'm a huge fan and the redundancy of having multiple Boots entries would make me happy.

just please vote for my revised version of this design.

I thought it looked really bad live-traced, so I re-drew it by hand. It is still the same view of the photograph that I took at Mount Rushmore this summer. I put in a much better ladder, and put some strategic shadows on the face to fit the ladder, though they may still be off.

I think the revision is MUCH better.

I like. If you've got room, I think it would be funny to say "Please don't feed the bears food, please." Or even "Please don't feed the bears food." I think the repeated idea of the related words feed/food is funnier than the repeat of "please." But if both fit, that's better.

Also, I think Woot would go mad with the writeup of the repetitive redundancy derby with an artist named bootsboots.

A "wink" would be nice, sure. But one that is punny and flows well with the shirt subject. "Where the real wild things are" just doesn't flow, nor does its humour match the pun of the park name.
I haven't the cleverness to come up with an appropriately naughty but funny catchphrase, but something 'wink"ing to the name of the park would be ideal. Unfortunately, a proper phrase would end up being too racy for woot.
(It's a stupid one, but just as an example, something like "Bear Back National Park: Where A Smile Is Your Only Protection")

I rose in rainy autumn and walked abroad in a shower of all my days.
