I briefly considered the pile of halloweenish items in the back and wondered if he had eaten her. But he has something in/on his mouth and what looks like a gash or a scar on his body.. definitely not clear enough to me. All other things aside.

Re: but it's mai pumpkin

I am going to put my personal opinion aside about this design because I know you wouldn't care and someone else will say it for me. So instead I will focus on what I think is the most important thing here and just say:

Again, this point really has nothing to do with you being the designer, Seki. Regardless of who designs it, people are not hurting for cat in pumpkin designs. If tgentry or picasserole (two people that usually design things that I like/would buy) designed a kitten in a pumpkin shirt I would be just as annoyed. Heck, when I was 7 I remember having two kitten in pumpkin shirts. My mom asked me if I wanted more but I told her no, in fact I don't even know why I had two of them in the first place but I suspect it was because one of them glowed in the dark. I mean really, how boring can you get? I was in Walmart and Target recently and right up front, in the halloween things, kittens AND puppies AND the other day I saw bunnies in pumpkins at some other store that was selling generic seasonal things like that.

I know in the scheme of things, nothing is really original and everything has been said before and all that b.s but can't you at least draw something that isn't spewed out by textile companies come halloween? If anything, I can buy a shirt exactly like this with a more realistic (and therefore cuter, to me) kitten and pay 5$. Hell, I can buy a stupid cartoon kitten in a pumpkin for 5$ too. Why do you deserve to make 1000$ plus from a design that has been so rehashed it makes me want to cry?

It has been brought to my attention before that people vote for these designs because they like seeing people get upset about it. But this is more then just getting upset about cuteness and rehashing, this is a legit point. She should in no way, make as much money as she will if this prints off of a shirt that is getting mass produced by the hundreds. I don't care if you 'don't like those shirts waaaaaa this one is cuter' It is NOT justifiable in any way, shape, or form. Anyone who votes out of spite for people; I hope you at least consider that this time all of the criticism is deserved even if you like her style.

I mean, really. I'm sorry but there is nothing you can say to defend yourself here. When you do something like this it makes me think you're just a troll, riling up the woot forums.

Heck, maybe you are.

Re: Were-Pumpkin

Yea, I'm really not going for the paneling here. The art is great, and I would go far as just wanting the third panel as the shirt. Perhaps you could take the third panel, enlarge & center it and then make the borders more of a circle than a box. That or find someway to make the 4 panels merge better.

Bunnies Ogling Carrots#39;s:
4/1/10: 2.5 lbs---2/25/10: 5.6 lbs
12/25/09: 22.4 lbs---10/28/09: 5.4 lbs
9/25/09: 8.2 lbs---4/1/09: 3.2 lbs
9/22/10: 18.4 lbs---12/1/10: 2.1 lbs

Sure it is. If the text was gone, it would still be a shirt about pumpkins doing something to people that we do to them.

Thanks everyone! I'm glad y'all like this one.

As to the text... This is from the derby theme description: Incidental text is permitted. That means your design can include text but not rely on it.

It seems incidental to me, since the design doesn't rely on the text (it would work in the same way with or without the text. The text could easily be removed without changing the concept or making it less understandable).

I agree. The shirt stands alone with or without the text. The text is just an enhancement of the illustrated joke but is in no way necessary. As with the LARPing shirt and many other like the robot Tattoo shirt, this sort of text has always been considered incidental.

I agree. You going to be making money off a Cookie Monster shirt for god knows how long. Have some tact, and give the Sesame Street stuff a rest. Let's see what you can come up with that's yours.

Regardless of my opinion on this shirt (and I do think it's very cute and well drawn), this has been done before. A lot. I found five in a minute on one website alone (Zazzle). First time I've ever used the "Tattle" feature... That is what it's for, right?

EDIT: Well, I found FAR more than five on Zazzle, but I got sick of looking at cute cats sitting in pumpkins and staring at me innocently after the fifth one.

That was my point to begin with. As far as I know the only two submissions by this artist are sesame street designs. A little fan art here and there with sufficient parody is just fine but we really need to see some original work.

Right, I would have thought the same thing but unfortunately I didn't until it was pointed out that it was the same designer (I tend to forget these things if I don't buy the shirt in question.)

I appreciate your guys concern with this, I've actually had this idea waaaay before submitting anything to woot and I thought this might be a chance to use it. Actually it was mre like castlevania in my head but since no game references I altered it. I might take it down though if there's more outcry, honestly though it probably wont make it past the rejectionator though. Sorry if I iratated you guys.

I actually have done 8 subs and only 2 have had anything to do with muppets. The last derby I did I did the igor harvest which got an honorable mention and the dream harvester what was very painterly.

No problem. You work is good and it's always nice to have fresh artists. I for one and I know of many others come for shirts that are unique and original that you can't get anywhere else and that's what we hope to see.

To be fair, this artist has done a few other designs that weren't parody related. I do see your point, however. I think this one might get rejected for non-incidental text anyway. The design works without it, but the Count wouldn't be as identifiable. Could go either way, I reckon.
