The colour combination is delicious. I'm really enjoying your work as of late.

Polar Bear - Far Northern Hemisphere
Pneguin - Southern Hemisphere.

Yeti = Imaginary

Nice to know. One of the comics that I color is called "Battlefields", it's all WWII stories. One story there was a lot of pages with p-40s, the other had a bunch of Typhoons. They are all very similar, but really cool looking planes. I'd love for this to win.

Re: Mach-ers Marks

I had some type in mind originally but wasn't sure if it would be "incidental" so I left it on the drawing board. the only one set in stone was for a fighter jet squadron called "the com-bats", and it was the bat faced one there on the left side.

made up little badges and things. this is what i doodle for fun.

Re: One Flight Per Customer

rglee129 wrote:I see your point- shirts should win on their own merit, not because they're alluding to a video game. But are people voting for this design because it's a video game reference or because of the imagery itself? It certainly originated without any kind of video game reference, so I guess it's hard for me to imagine it being perceived as one.

I, for one, voted for it strictly for the imagery. I've never seen the video game in question; I have never even heard of it until now.

What got my vote was the third-in-line penguin, the one with the colander on his head, peering impatiently past the penguin ahead of him to see how much longer until it's his turn. Love it -- that really makes the deign for me.

As for the yeti, to me he is just a large hurling thing, the specifics of which are inconsequential. I'd have voted for it whether the flinging was done by the yeti, a polar bear, a catapult, or the robot from your "My Favorite Program" shirt (which I love).

Re: One Flight Per Customer

The only thing I wish is that the thrown penguin was a bit closer so that it was larger and more detailed so it would stand out more. The shirt would make a lot more immediate sense, I think.

But the point may be to make people figure out what is going on so who knows.

It's what I first thought of, but they should be different enough in concept. I'm not really a fan of pop culture shirts in general, however. Probably because I never get the joke. :/

not exactly that one, but thats pretty much the same thing. the one i saw was just a white silhouette on black.

also, does woot have some kind of language filter that changes certain words automatically? cause i know i didnt write "cancellation" in my previous post -.-

Re: First Flight

cool concept, but too cutesy for me to wear.
wouldve been better if you "badassed" it up a bit, and by doing so added some more detail and shadowing etc. to the design.

I feel like there are enough differences to say it isn't based on the game that and based on the artist's comment in the pre-derby forum on how they hadn't heard of the game before I'd let it slide. That being said I am not the Rejectionator so I guess tattle and we'll see what the final verdict is.

I don't think there's a video game reference either. First you said you weren't even aware of the game. I believe you because SECOND: it's an obscure little Internet game that made the rounds a few years ago but I haven't seen it pop up in quite a while. And I explore the Internet a lot on weird sites that publish those types of games.

Then again, I have no influence on anyone about anything so only the Rejectionator knows for sure.

I like it. I hope it passes muster.

edit:

I think part of the problem as well is that the silver really blends in with the blue which may be making the blue patches seem larger.

I see what your saying. Overall I think the blue shirt shading came out neat, but if this one goes the distance, I'll get some more color behind the kiwis to bring them out more. Thanks as always sir.

please recall, however, that I am NOT the rejectionator. I think it's fine because I reason things through, and because my life isn't nothing but videogames. Woot's rejections are often mysterious and inscrutable examples of "huh?"

Yep, there's an automatic word filter that changes naughty words. For example, here's Carlin's infamous "Seven Words You Can Never Say on Television":

Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966)
Piss
fire Rocket Number 9
Gypsy
goatroper
Cambot
pick-up sticks

That cat looks so damn happy. Of course, much of that joy must be coming from how it's tormenting that poor robin, but then that's how cats roll.
