Thanks for the feedback everyone! I appreciate your comments.

Regarding the "A Book":
-I feel it is necessary in order to maintain the propaganda feel. Without it, the entry would probably be rejected as being "Off Topic".
-The bright colors and message on the TV are so eye popping and attention grabbing that anything else on the shirt is secondary.
-I made the words this shape to resemble the glow of the TV on the ground. But most people don't seem to read it this way.

only rejects reject something that shouldnt be rejected. i mean holy f**k how can this be rejected for "off topic" this shirt pretty much epitomizes everything you said you wanted. i will give you the benefit of the doubt and hope you rejected this without meaning to, and that it will come back with all the votes intact

dont get why this was rejected. unwritten rule = "shake twice, dont play with your penis" and it has elements of propaganda style posters

thurdl01 wrote:That's two rounds of rejections, and this 0-for-2 shirt that is neither an unwritten social rule nor a recognized propaganda style is still alive. Sigh.

Even the staunchest supporter of the shirt has admitted that "its not mimicking a classic propaganda poster" which is clearly half the theme and should be cause for rejection.

i agree, it shouldve been rejected for lacking propaganda style, but i still think its on topic otherwise. and im amazed the artist didnt resub a shirt with better typography, cause so many didnt vote for it due to bad typography, including myself. it freaking annoys me that shirts like "dont go there" was rejected and so many less on theme ones were not.

kender42 wrote:I can not believe that you really want me to justify something meaningful in the war.

It is like you completely ignore my point of view on this and keep thrusting your views and your arguments on me. So let me set this straight for you.

1. My complaint is that I found this shirt offensive b/c it implies what the military does over there is meaningless.

2. I stated clearly that I probably would never have commented on this had the shirt simply read "Support the neverending war."

3. You, and others, are the one who keeps saying that I am saying "If you don't support the war you don't support the troops."

4. I could care less if you support or don't support the war. I only care that what the military does over there is meaningful and not a waste.

If you are incapable of sticking to what my point has been the whole time then I see no reason to continue responding to your posts.

Oh, and as an aside we also have dead sailors, airman and Marines. I know the media is to blame for this but the only soldiers I am aware of are in the Army. I am not saying this to pick at you just to let you know that some of us prefer to be called by what we are or the generic 'troops'.

Also as an aside to the artist...Never Ending not Neverending.

I modified my post to accurately reflect all branches of the military as it was originally intended.

Your original point was that this shirt was a giant F.U. to the troops because it says that what they are doing over there is meaningless. While the meaningful/meaningless continuum may be where you are focused, I would like you to explain to me how you can be against something and find it meaningful, particularly when it results in the loss of human life on both sides. I would also like you to explain how a never ending war is meaningful. If the point of a war is to accomplish something but you are never able to do that making the war drag on forever, what meaning was there?

The point I am trying to make is that never ending conflict with no resolution or demonstrable effect is meaningless. Our troops who are out there doing their best the make the most out of the situation have all of the support in the world but that only underscores how wrong a position they have been put in by our government.

I would not want to be a part of an organization that I do not agree with. The military is probably the most difficult place to disagree with your orders because a lot more is at stake than anywhere else. While you may have a different opinion on how meaningful the war has been, you cannot expect everyone to automatically find the things the military does meaningful just because the military is doing it.

This last point is the heart of the shirt for me. We as citizens are being asked to support the never ending, meaningless war and for the most part any dissent is demonized by making a false connection between support for the war and support for the troops. If there is any modern propaganda, this is it to a T.

Aside from an unnamed famous space reference here, this shirt also makes me think of the old joke -
Q: Where does a 1 ton gorilla sit?
A: Wherever he wants!

The arm kinda looks like a gorilla arm... so...

Q: What do you do when you play (fight?) against a 1 ton gorilla?
A: Let him win!

But what "tradition" does it represent? Some "traditional values" that many southerners like to brag about:

- denying homosexuals and other minorities equal rights
I'm pretty sure this is a Christian belief and if I'm right, Maine had something to say on the matter recently.

- proselytizing and foisting creationism in schools
Again, Christian belief.

- opposing choice for women
Christian and pretty much nationwide what with women's national income

- ignoring separation of church and state
The statement from that document actually reads to where the STATE is not to interfere with the CHURCH, not the other way around. Gotta love how people pick and choose these days.

Why resumbit? It's fogged. For some ungodly reason it doesn't need your vote, cause people are willing to overlook the bad typography, the ignorance of the theme, and just vote for the designer.

If it was a double entries thing then one of the two Educate Yourself shirts from JadenKale would have been struck down. They're right next to each other in the sort-by-date listing, so it's not like the two choices aren't obvious. It's far from the first time a designer has submitted the same design on multiple colors.

Me? I liked the green better, the text stood out a little more.
