it might be obscure enough to pass for not actually being tony, but the text will kill it dead.

as for what is and isn't rejectable based on likeness, good luck with that. it depends on the subject matter, the amount of parody, the wind and heat in texas, the time of day, the coffee machine breaking down, etc. basically it is all subjective to what woot decides is to similar.

Awesome dragon design; really like the colors. That being said, kind of wish the dragon itself was a bit bigger relative to the shirt but, other than that, good stuff.

I like it, but will it print?

I know this is a homage to Dr. Seuss, but something about this shirt looking soooooo very similar to his style of art is bothering me. I know its what makes the shirt make sense, but I guess I'm not all for copying another artists style.

(I admit though, even though I said all of that, I like this style cause of its abstractness. Also good job working with a unique idea.)

although to me, the design makes almost no sense outside the context of the derby, it's just so off-the-wall and bizzare that I can't help but love it. the colour choices and the tiger's expression are wonderful here.

Nice idea, I'd like to see some blades of grass under the animals to ground the image. Since you've already used 6 colors you could just you black again for outlines of grass.

as i look at this more, i have a bigger critique. lets assume that light is behind the tiger causing him to be a silohuette instead of actually seeing him. we would only be able to see tinges of color of orange and black from light leaking around his body. we would not be able to see his scarf. jm2c.

also, if you do a simple google search for tony, the top image is this:

this is the exact photo you used, with the orange turned to black and the black turned to yellow. the woot masses are going to murder you for using someone else's artwork. while techincally you changed it around and added elements (see shepherd fairley's obama hope poster) in the end it is someone else's work.

i am just throwing this out there, because you may be eaten alive by the wooters.

though i personally preferred the pale blue (so sue me, i look good in it), i still think the design is very quirky and creative - one of the best in the derby thus far. lovely texture detail. well done sir, & GMV.

Glad that some of you enjoy a chinese new year type design. The awesome colors are the work of Bassanimation, and the colors standing out may also be partially due to a last minute shirt color change;) It was originally cranberry with the possibility of navy, but then literally in the last 5 minutes we tried black and both liked it, the design popped a bit more.

although i personally try to avoid a lot of the personal dramas that always surround certain artists, i feel this thread so far helps illuminate some of the frustration and animosity many feel towards seki.

we begin with a tale about a sad dragon who is reading a book and is depressed because he isn't real. when several people noted that they don't feel this story is conveyed at all by the design itself, the artist seems to respond with 'well i like dragons and ice cream, so deal with it.'

perhaps if seki had simply stated from the get-go that she just wanted to draw a cute dragon eating ice-cream, without forcing all the convoluted back-story upon it, she might find herself with a bit more respect and credibility. there's nothing inherently wrong with presenting a simple design with a simple concept - but embrace it and own it and be open about it, instead of trying to make something out to be more than it is.
