Normscoffee wrote:Because the last monkey has a dialogue bubble, it is a different shirt?

I don't think so.

No, because the zazzle shirt is the standard, very old, "See NO evil, Hear NO evil, speak NO evil" monkeys. Whereas this is a spoof of that, where its SEE evil, HEAR evil, SPEAK evil. You missed the joke.

It feels more nowtro than retro.

I was also thinking about doing a version with the Jenny 567-5309 in the pager but I was worried about the "intellectual property".

I can't stress enough how badly I want this shirt. This shirt not printing would be a crime against humanity. Or at least a crime against people who love awesome shirts!

This came about while I was watching something on tv a couple of weeks ago. Somebody was eating a Po'Boy and somehow the idea of a Poe themed restaurant popped into my mind and made me laugh.

I really like this but would love to see the face created in simple broken/missing panels. Great job.

Something about this design is striking me as very "I totally just bought this at Kohl's."

I'm not seeing it as ringing true to any particularly vintage style. It's just a new design that's been pseudo-distressed. Honestly, this is one of those derbies where you could get away with colors being very saturated and minimal shading. Swirlies? Those are fairly new.

I agree - what retro were you trying for Ramy? This feels like...anime

It reminds me of the kind of stuff you'd see in a catalog my mom used to get that had "funny" shirts and mugs with fishing jokes and jokes about grandpa being an old fart. The kind of thing that old people think is really a "hoot".

This shirt was designed to show case the laser grid style of the mid 80s. The text is the free tron font by Paul Alders via DaFont.com.

Hopefully, there is enough picture here that it doesn't get rejected as a slogan only t-shirt.

I still see Mr. Men stuff popping up in random places these days. I'm sure I've seen recent kids' books with them, so it must still be alive just like Sesame Street.

I really like this. I LOVE guacamole. I actually already have a guacamole shirt, believe it or not. I think this might be better received in a different theme, though. It doesn't really scream vintage to me either, but I still like it.

jzlosman wrote:Where's the vintage?

the character design imo would be considered "retro" and with a vintage color pallet and font it should come off as a vintage design. I did not want to add distressing in the slim chance that the shirt prints, I would like it to just distress and fade by itself over time

thanks for diggin' the sketch!
