Re: Mood Swing (Bipolar Rep)
I want to get as much derby practice as possible but I also wanted to do something tasteful and not try to make light of mental illness in anyway.
Anyway, I thought Bipolar as a disease and tried to conceptualize the actual disease and its effects. I used the literal image of a swing to enforce the swinging moods people afflicted with this disease suffer. The “high” (or manic mood) is depicted with the upswing as a happy, well-kept image of a chick….the “low” (or depressed) swing shows the same girl-worn, haggard and disheveled. It is my attempt to show the internal effects of the disease by morphing the outward appearance of the character. The tree is supposed to be a subliminal reinforcement of the perception change of the character in each extreme, on the up end a normal enough looking tree, on the low end more menacing and taunting, almost paranoia-inducing as depression can sometimes be.
Well…at least that’s what I was going for anyway…The talent may lack where the ambition tries to venture. Thanks for looking anyway =)
