Re: The Gamma 12 Star Crushers

The illo, color choices, etc. are awesome. The subject matter is limiting, tho. Good art, but not something a guy - or me (older female) - would wear. Definitely a great illo for tween girls and under, though. And I'm convinced they have their parents' credit cards and make the final Woot vote determination. So, good on ya!

ThatPoshGirl wrote:I think this would be better without the drag marks. They end up looking like a tee pee. But I really like the overall design.

It's the perspective. The drag marks shouldn't show up at the visible edges of the ball, but start a bit behind. But it's a moot point - the idea rocks, but I can't say it makes for a great shirt. Still, you are my hero, Weird! LOVE your scratchboard style.

Re: Constelation

It is a nice, clean design. Would have been better with a recognizable constellation (spelling!). This doesn't appear to be Orion or Bootes. Still, it's pretty neat and wearable. Good luck!

Re: let's go earth!

I think the design is, overall, too large. But I am in love with the colors and the retro style - all aspects. If this doesn't print, I would HOPE for an HM down the line. If not, at least consider a little tweaking and sub elsewhere. Realy nice work.

hustler03 wrote:Will someone please explain this whole Pucker thing to me?

Kenney has, for whatever reason, decided to sub one or more designs each derby (minus one or two recent) featuring puckering lips. Somehow, he manages to mostly conform to the rules of whatever derby, and avoid the rejectionator. But, the 'design' is hasty, badly colored, and seems to be aimed to provoke (negative) commentary. I'm not sure anyone other than Kenney knows why. Just one of those Shirt.Woot derby artifacts - like cute, Cheebi Ramyb bunnies/turtles/penguins. It just is.

Re: IGC3230 AT TWIN JET

I REALLY like this style.

Honestly, I probably won't buy a soccer-related shirt, no matter what it looks like. But I hope you submit something similar in a future derby. Very well done.

(I went ahead and voted anyway)

I'm not even sure if I would buy the shirt, I just think it looks very cool. My favorite by far of this derby so far.

Re: Lower Appendage Sphere Championship

In 2450 football was renamed lower appendage sphere to eliminate the bipedal bias of the name football. Some historians argued that the name soccer should be used, because it was unbiased and had a connection to the sport before the unification of the nations of Earth. This suggestion was quickly abandoned, because the human pronunciation of soccer sounded similar to several taboo words in the intergalactic community.

Converting the rough into vectors took longer than I anticipated, but I'm very please with the result. I tried to vary the ling weight to suggest curvature and shadows, while making sure the red and blue fields never touch each other.

Hope you everyone one enjoys!

Comments and Suggestions are always appreciated. Thanks!

Thank you!. In the old times (before the world cup in England in 66) the ball used to look like this

Hm, yeah, I was afraid of that. Didn't really even occur to me when I was submitting, but looking at it amongst all the other submissions, it doesn't give a lot away. I'm considering resubmitting again, but I feel a little odd doing it twice.

As for the shirt texture, thanks for pointing that out! Very good to know for next time.

And thanks for the kind words Shirono. Means a lot. =]

A darker distressed version of my first design - colors inspired by ThatRobert's derby entry.

It's not uncommon for people to resubmit designs. A better thumbnail could bring more votes, and since it's not really going anywhere right now it would be worth it. I think it's good design, but when I first saw the thumbnail I wasn't interested at all.

Yes, you can. I think you have 24 hours to delete an entry if you want. Woot has yet to produce a straightforward and comprehensive list of derby rules so check out this unofficial primer which helps mitigate the learning curve.

Laponcha, you also have to make this more in line with the theme. Although this looks like a creature from another world, it's hard to tell why he is saying "Let's go".

ill admit i would have liked this a lot better if it were not mario characters. if it were just genaric spacemen vs some big alien dude with the same action it would totally awesome(er)! i think the mario theme is kind of extraneous...

still that said, it still a sweet drawing!

To be honest, this is actually the only shirt I'd buy from this derby. Its soccer oriented but its one of the only ones thats actually wearable. Also, I hella like the colors. Definitely not woot colors but still its good.

Oooookay! Third time submitting this thing. I originally submitted this yesterday, and then resubmitted it about five minutes later after realizing the shirt image was too small. And now, following some excellent advice, I am again resubmitting with what is hopefully a more eye-catching thumbnail.

This is my first attempt at a shirt design and all that, so any and all feedback is greatly appreciated. Thanks! =]

Lucky, you're one of my favorite artists here. I really enjoy seeing your bizarro take on established characters. This will probably get rejected, but I hope to see it print somewhere in the near future. Great work as always.

Good design idea, I don't buy a lot of shirts here, but I do commend the genius that some of you artists capture. This however, is completely wearable.... now just to get mine in time to watch Italy beat on the World again. Vote vote vote. (for this one)

So it is boughten.... So it must be paid off with a second job!

Great shirt idea.... limited audience. Bet you would sell the hell out of these at your local AYSO weekend. Right next to the "MY kid's skillz are out of this world" tee vendor.

Re: Galactic Impact

DETAIL IMAGE

So how 'bout them Reds, huh? Hmm, wrong sport. *cough* A collab by my brother, Jedigreedo & me this week. In fact, he's got a bit of an explanation for this shirt, as it was his idea:

Regardless of whether or not we've made first contact by then, in 2442 there will be a football, or soccer, game held - assuming nothing interrupts the scheduling. In the event that we not only have made first contact, but have even stepped up to a level of galactic competition, this is how we envision them advertising such a thing. Basically in the form of a non-team specific yet dramatic flier/poster/etc.

So yeah, it's an advert shirt for the 2442 Galactic Cup. Which, according to my brother's calculations, will be an actual year the cup will be held if we continue the tradition up to that time.

Also, he did the great design on the console & screen outline. Which is awesome cause mine was crap. Not to mention the sweet logo & the stool that nerdy boy on the right is perched upon. Enjoy!
