Like the eclectic composition of a classic weenie, this is also a mash-up: a bit Titus Andronicus, lots of Hamlet, and some sneakers. And pig lips.

6 colors on royal blue.

edit: @Kwilder- I pulled it and double-checked b/c I thought you were right about a 7th color. BUT it really is just 6 colors- the sneakers/ question marks are the same color as the bun's highlight. It's an illusion, Michael!

Re: Postcard from Pericles

Link to big version

The text is Act 2, Scene 1. The stamp is 33 because Pericles is play #33 in common chronologies. Helicanus is one of Pericles' confidants and advisors.

I agree. I never like boxy (is that a word?) designs, but this one works.

Ah this is way nicer, I like this color scheme! The text was really unnecessary, the image alone is very nice and conveys the message well. :D

Re: My milkshake bringith all thy lads to thy yard.

A shake by any other name would taste as sweet. Excellent wordplay! The bard would be delighted. it has inspired me to write thus:

On summer days we seek a treat ice cold
The solstice was but just four days ago.
Enjoyed by all, the youngest and the old
'Tis better than yours but methinks you know

The derby states this week to be the bard's
as artists dare to post their heart's desire
Not all are met in any high regards
Some criticize with posts that feel like fire

But Lo! what's this that satiates the flame?
A milky drink impaled by artist's wit
While some may say "He just redrew his name"
the cherry topper is the short of it

The bane of critic and of bitter troll
The sweetness of art decided by poll.

Yeah, sorry, I'm confused too. Desdemona isn't in A Midsummer Night's Dream. What is the theory behind this image?

I really like the look and feel of this one. However, I liked it better with the anthropomorphic cherry. Not super crazy about the placement being so low, as it will draw attention to an awkward place on the body. Still, I like the work on the shake!

What Yorick's skull would have said to Hamlet, if Shakespeare were to include talking skulls...unless that's too much foreshadowing?

If anyone has a better selection of font for the quote bubble, I will be happy to update the design. I looked through a lot of fonts but never truly found one that stuck out to me.

I kinda agree. the cherry added a sense of tragedy to it, though the shake was speared, not the cherry...

Huh? How can this be off topic?

from the rules:

In honor of the best Shakespeare in Winona County, we're asking you for your best Shakespearean-inspired designs this week. Maybe it's an imagining of a great performance, a scene from Verona, or just some cunning wordplay (that guy LOVED wordplay).

Hamlet --> omelet is word play and the quote is based on an actual quote from the play. How can this possibly be considered off topic for a theme that is inspired by Shakespeare?

How is it any less on topic than Romeouse and Julirat? Or does topic not apply to gratuitous cuteness?

I realize this wasn't going to win, or get close. But this is total BS, imo.

Wait a second - I own a great Woot! shirt that's black with red ink (as blood):

It shows up fine on black.
