The speech bubble explains the shark's purpose. If it wasn't there then people wouldn't know why the shark was in the tank.

"The Umbrellas" by Pierre-Auguste Renoir

My alternate title would be "Acid Rain". Of course the one time I actually have a decent title for my entry I can't use it! Damn you, Woot gods!

I hope you guys like this one. I think it's the longest I've ever spent on a derby entry.

And I really think you should reconsider the shirt color. Something more red, or yellowy?

Her legs are styalized for maximum curviness! It's just the way I like to draw them, they are pinup legs. And I tried out all the shirt colors, red looked hideous and yellow was too light so I had a choice between blue or brown and I thought the brown was too dark, so whala! Light blue! Also these are similar to the colors used in the original painting. Oranges and blue are complimentory colors so they tend to work well with eachother.

kylemittskus wrote:Both play on the fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were named after famous artists. Both use the turtles' headband in the colors of the turtle that whose name matches the eponymous artist. Those two things seem pretty striking to me. Again, I'm not saying you stole the idea, although you might have; I'm saying it's poor timing. And it's your job to list the differences in defense of yourself. Are the shirts the same? No. Do they play on the exact same idea in the exact same way? Yes.

And aside from all of that, this shirt is off-theme. You didn't reinterpret "David"; you drew "David" and made a parody of it by making the aforementioned joke.

You've only given me 2 similarities, and even the second one is tenuous. The aesthetic differences between mine and the "daily" can easily overwhelm your meager 1.5 similarities. There's no need to list them to defend myself because it is clear that you know and have stated that:

It is pointless to argue off/on-topicness. Let Woot be the judicator of such matter, and I will be fine with their decision.

Poor giraffes : ( Great facial expressions on the giraffes! I wonder if they had a run in with Blake's Tiger Tiger Burning Bright.

Re: The Umbrellas

Ah... I started an umbrellas design too, but I don't think I'm going to get to finish it. Looks awesome cmdixon! Love the colors dripping down the umbrellas and the whole flow of the shirt.

Side note: I do wish it was on another color though, because then I'd buy it! Just a bit asphalted/blacked out these days (especially these hot summer days where I'm not wearing dark colors) and I think the design could work really well on a number of other colors.
Still fantastic though!;)

i love paintings and i think many are over done without anything new added (mona lisa etc). I'm not sure why a gingerbread man would be performing an autopsy but I still like it.

I don't know all that much about what's allowed and what's not, but this seems like it's probably outside Woot's printing area. I could be wrong, though.
