Holy fast sellout, Batman.

Uh Woot...maybe it's time to increase the number of day-of shirts, at least for derby winners? I'd have got this for my dad, but not at $15. And a lot of derby winners have been selling out within 12 hours lately.

What Woot should really do is setup a "day-of" formula that goes a little something like this:

The artist get's paid 50 cents times the "sellout threshold" limit PLUS $1 per shirt beyond that threshold. The price jumps to $12 beyond that threshold and would be the same as the Woot Off price. I believe the sellout threshold is currently 2,000 shirts (which is inline with the $1,000 going to the artist) and is most likely dependent upon the number of shirts Woot can realistically produce per day.

As long as you are willing to wait longer for your shirt if you are purchasing the "day-of" at the $12 price, then why not? The artist still gets paid, but not as well as reckoning prices, which is $2 per shirt.

However, this means Woot loses out on revenue that corresponds to $3 per shirt during reckoning. It's not much of a loss, but it's still less money. On the bright side, only the best shirts would make it into reckoning. To be available for reckoning you MUST reach the "sellout threshold". That would make the best shirts available for a longer time. Make the reckoning a top 50, and the best hang around for even longer.

This shirt describes my eating habits so well. The concept of fruits and vegetables gracing my plate is incredibly foreign. Plus, that banana couldn't be cuter with it's angry face.

The vegetables and fruits are being elitist (plantist?). They know that eating more meat in the end requires more of their fellow plants like grass, corn, and soy to feed the increase in production of meat. Yet, they don't give a damn as long as vegetables are safe from slaughter.

I say no to eating more meat. Instead, my grass and grain brothers, WE SHOULD RAISE LESS CORN AND MORE HELL!!

That mid-day jump would just create more angry people in the forums.

Not that I'm implying YOU'RE angry, but we already have quite a few angry people here.

I'll tell you, I don't even understand WHY there is a threshold.

The $10 "day of" offers are essentially pre-orders. Which means, depending on the volume of sales, they know how many to print. That's why they take so long to get. There is no way that these are pre-printed ahead of time and Woot is anticipating sales. That would be foolish on their part.

So why the threshold? If you make it low then you have to put in the reckoning and sell it for $5 more for no good reas-- ahhh, I see. It's a profit deal.

Sorry Woot, you lost me. Maybe worth $10, NOT worth $15.

Nope, I'm not angry at all. But I would like to see a change with the way some things work with Woot. Basically the $2 extra per shirt would allow you to buy the shirt cheaper on the "day-of". If you snooze, you lose. This must be the motto for Woot, otherwise why not sell new items at 9pm CST?

Or does Woot just want to sell their stuff more for the west coast and Europe? Is Woot contributing positively to the United States GDP exports by selling new items at midnight CST? Are there tax loopholes by selling certain items for one day and ONLY one day? I wanna know!

My Mom was in the hospital for a week last month with Salmonella. She got it off a truck stop salad.

I'm sorry, I can't take you seriously any longer. Are you seriously comparing eating meat of any kind to the Holocaust?
Oh and before you start giving me examples, I know what happens at meat processing plants. I don't need sensational misleading videos while you attempt to compare. It's not even close.

Listen up brothers and sisters,
come hear my desperate tale.
I speak of our friends of nature,
trapped in the dirt like a jail.

Vegetables live in oppression,
served on our tables each night.
This killing of veggies is madness,
I say we take up the fight.

Salads are only for murderers,
coleslaw's a fascist regime.
Don't think that they don't have feelings,
just cause a radish can't scream.

Chorus:
I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (having their insides revealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (burning off calories)
How do you think that feels (bet it hurts really bad)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (and that's a real crime)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (let my vegetables go)
It's time to stop all this gardening (it's dirty as hell)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade is a spade is a spade)

I saw a man eating celery,
so I beat him black and blue.
If he ever touches a sprout again,
I'll bite him clean in two.

I'm a political prisoner,
trapped in a windowless cage.
Cause I stopped the slaughter of turnips
by killing five men in a rage

I told the judge when he sentenced me,
This is my finest hour,
I'd kill those farmers again
just to save one more cauliflower

Chorus

How low as people do we dare to stoop,
Making young broccolis bleed in the soup?
Untie your beans, uncage your tomatoes
Let potted plants free, don't mash that potato!

I've heard the screams of the vegetables (scream, scream, scream)
Watching their skins being peeled (fates in the stirfry are sealed)
Grated and steamed with no mercy (you fat gormet slob)
How do you think that feels? (leave them out in the field)
Carrot juice constitutes murder (V8's genocide)
Greenhouses prisons for slaves (yes, your composts are graves)
It's time to stop all this gardening (take up macrame)
Let's call a spade a spade (is a spade, is a spade, is a spade, is a spade.....

Yeah, yeah. We all know that. Here's the thing: This isn't a physically stocked item like a Roomba or Leak Frog. Woot purposefully makes fictitious "thresholds" for shirts that haven't even been printed yet when it would be easy to just let them sell and sell and sell for the whole day.

It's about creating the demand, shorting it, and then selling it for more (than it's worth, IMO) later. It's Woot's personal "Black-Friday" formula.

This is utter (or is it udder) sophistry. You may be able to make the argument that animals are technically sentient (having the power of perception by the senses) but in reality they are nothing more that biological machines governed by instinct and limited abilities of adaptation They lack reasoning, self-awareness or a soul. To compare the slaughter of millions of people to eating a bucket of KFC is insulting, disgusting and down-right ignorant.

It is precicely this kind of vegan self-rightiousness that causes a shirt like this to sell out before 8 am. I'm glad I got mine early and I will be sure to drip some BBQ sauce on it before wearing.

Not to get into some intense philosophical debate, but I think saying animals "lack reasoning, self-awareness or a soul" is pretty heavy-handed.

It's not you or I or anyone else that gets to determine whether or not something has a soul. Talk to anyone who has a beloved pet and ask them if they believe it has a soul. I think you'll find that the answer is commonly "Yes". Self-awareness is certainly a grey area as well, as some testing has elicited results that suggest some animals do in fact possess self awareness. Other research suggests that there really isn't even a definitive test for it yet, whether for humans or otherwise. Furthermore, there are arguments that some animals do exhibit reasoning; just look at an abused dog and how it avoids the warning signs of trauma. Frankly, the study of the mind and awareness is still too much in its infancy to make such blanket statements.

I'm not defending any statement about the holocaust vs. the meat industry (though I do have opinions about it, and they aren't really appropriate for a shirt website), and I will straight-up say that, yep, I'm a vegetarian. I sure as hell don't get all up in anyone's business though, and I think this shirt is absolutely great. I'd buy it and wear the hell out of it.
