I totally agree. I've been trying to champion this one, but people don't see reason. And all I have is one vote.

Re: Sabertooth

People aren't voting to be spiteful; they are voting because they like the designs. That is why Ramy's shirts frequently sell out before the day ends.

be10der2me wrote:I NEVER THOUGHT I WOULD SAY THIS but I agree...IN PART! This part..."It's proof voting should be changed. It's proof woot's voting system is flawed."
Woot should count votes as a pre-order. Instead of "I'd want that" make it "I am in for one". If the shirt prints your account is charged for one and you have 2 days to decide on a size or you get shipped a large.
One shirt prepaid= one vote.
Would this work?
I think it would cut down on premier shirts being relegated to the reckoning in their debut week.
Just an idea.

Hell if you go that route, pick the size at vote time. I don't know that it would cut down on shirts getting reckoned first week out - is that Mario/Davinci mashup still the number one vote getter? I think it got 2 grand. But anyway, a sellout is 3000, and I'm hearing 150 plus a week is necessary to stay in the reckoning. *shrug*

The more appropriate thing here is to send a notice to the owner of the original artwork. But seeing as how Mr. Watterson is fairly reclusive, I've sent a notice to his publisher, Universal Press Syndicate, instead.
It really is entirely up to those parties to send a Cease and Desist if they so desire.
I'm a nobody, and just have my vote, which doesn't really mean too much.

I'm not an artist but I like to enter just for fun. Please go easy on me

I'm sure the cave people wanted to document their family memories just like we do I have here a courtship/wedding of a cave couple, a boy and his pet dinosaur, and a cave family vacation to the tar pits.

wcsae wrote:This is very nice, but I think you might be violating the "No Video Games rule" given you title is Monster Hunter and Monster Hunter is a video game where a hero goes and slays giant creatures that are terrorizing towns. Seems way too similar to your design for the name to be a co-incident.

I think its alright, i mean when I saw it I didn't think of monster hunter.

And if the name is all the problem couldn't woot just change it. I remember in the "band names reinterpreted" derby one of the shirts name was pending, but I'm not sure if it passed.

Well it was "Stone Temple Pilots" which became "Shirt Title Pending" - it was a bit of a quagmire as to whether they could get away with calling it that. Also a bit of a nod, since the band was once upon a time called Shirley Temple's..cat. STP ;) But anyway, Shirt Title Pending was intentionally the name.

As ever, pre-order based voting would HUGELY decrease actual vote totals and be 100% unfair to all voters. The only way to fix the problem is to change the importance of votes.

I see no reason to enumerate all the reasons this idea is horrible, because a functioning mind should be able to do this on their own. suffice it to say pre-orders for product that might never exist simply don't work

That is actually a tremendously clever idea!! You're right that the art is a tad lacking, but this is a cave drawing derby, after all. ;)

"Oh yeah I didn't remember the no text rule" is nothing. It's more of the "Oh yeah I'm not supposed to steal art from other people" rule. It's a standing one. :/

the arrows/bones or whatever near the rat look out of place. are they piercing him? still in the air? to the side? did he step in some stickers? plus the arrows/bones near the people look like shovels.

and the arms of the rat, kinda creepy looking as in is it a female creepy

i didn't read everything so i'm unsure if you have been answered, but yes, on some occasions when Hobbes gets mad at Calvin he has him in his mouth, i think with Calvin's bottom half sticking out.

he's also had that same look as the last picture admiring his nails (I think when he's invited to the tea party by Suzie but Calvin is not)
