@moviewatcher Then that's what they shall be. Hey, it's art. You can interpret it any way you like!

I just wanted to thank everyone again for voting for my humble little design. This is my first time in the fog and I'm crazy excited to see the top three winners. Good luck to everyone in the fog! I admire your work each week and think it's pretty cool to be up here with you guys.

You can no longer vote on this shirt because this derby is over. For future reference, click the "I'd Buy One" button at the top left of the design.

Re: Horses Of Courses

This is my absolute favourite piece by you ever, BB. If you ever reprint it somewhere else - or would be willing to sell me a template I can get printed for myself - do please let me know! I'm super pissed I was so sick this week I didn't vote and this didn't make the fog.

Gorgeous! So many lovelies in this derby that didn't make it to the fog. Please let us know if you print this elsewhere - I'd definitely buy.

Re: Pigment Blowing

Wow! This is stunningly beautiful, really psychedelic, and sort of otherwordly - like aliens, or supernatural creatures - I just love the vibe, and the colours as well as style/art are phenomenal, too. As someone else noted I love how this ISN'T in the muted earth tones of most entries since I don't like to wear nor do I look good in those colours, but yours I would love to rock!

I'm sorry this didn't fog, and that woot messed up your print, but PLEASE keep submitting, and if you print this elsewhere you MUST let me know.

[Btw, I have this deep hatred of skulls in art - it's why I didn't buy the 4 apocalypse ponies shirt 2 nights ago; I love unicorns above all and OF COURSE that any other pony but the unicorn had been spared I would have sucked it up and bought that shirt, but the unicorn desecration was intolerable - anyway, my point is, for me to love your skull-central design so much is HUGE.]

Keep on keeping on, talented one! Don't let the woot judges get you down with their mess ups and rejections.

Re: Sabertooth

Rejected. This is so completely brilliant.

I suspect Woot was waiting until the last minute to avoid Ramyseki submitting yet another one.

Way to go rejectionator!

Leave it until the last minute every week!

Re: Self-Portrait

This is a really creative idea, brilliantly executed. I love this as a comic panel more than a t-shirt -- I could see it taped up next to The Far Side outside professors' offices at university campuses all over the place. I like to think Woot buyers are smarter than the average bear, but I wonder if the votes were lower than deserved because not everyone knows the Norman Rockwell painting. In any case, extremely well done and I hope this finds a home somewhere.

I'm only sorry that I didn't bother to look till after voting ended. Hope you make it to #2 or #3 (#1 already released at this time). Then I'll have reason to put my credits to use.

Re: iRock

Nice work. I've long been a fan of Koko (who is most often depicted playing a flute) but not so much the iPod. I can see how this would appeal to those who love their iPods though. Maybe, instead of shirt.woot, you should have submitted this to Apple.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

As much as that idea amuses me, it's simply not fair to artists. And people can debate whether certain artists are fair to the rest of the community with their practices, but Woot shouldn't get down in the mud with them.

johncreillyphile wrote:A bogus rejection. There is well more than enough parody here. I guess the Woot had to give the crybabies something after the pony incident.

I'm sorry, but how is

a parody of a comic which already had

amongst other comics depicting a similar scene to the fourth panel? Essentially, what I am saying is that it is difficult to call parody what has already been done by the original. Would Dilbert going through mind numbingly stupid things in an office environment be parody too?

Moreover, which do you think is more likely. Woot took out what would likely have been a profitable shirt because a vocal minority wouldn't shut up? Or. Woot took out what would likely have been a profitable shirt because then Bill Watterson would have sued the pants off them (or at least had the grounds to) thus making the shirt not profitable anymore?

This, of course, assumes it was a top 3 vote getter, which there is no indication of

Yeah, I agree. Came out of nowhere wasn't even stylized and clearly said Police Public Call Box

Though it is true that the Police Box isn't public domain. It's copyrighted by BBC.

I'm surprised this didn't place... but I fully expect to see it again in a Double-Take. Woot would be crazy not to give this an HM.

While your first sentence is partially correct, your second is wrong. A generic "Police box" CANNOT be COPYRIGHTED by the BBC. Why? Because they existed prior to the BBC using them. However, a specific instance of a police box (with a specific design variation) could be copyrighted, as that would be new.

It's like the Disney movies based on public domain stories: the stories weren't removed from the public domain just because Disney based films on them; only the specific likenesses and audio and new dialog have protection.

On the other hand, the term "TARDIS" and its likenesses are TRADEMARKs of the BBC.
