Over in the shirt of the day thread, it became very obvious that the Kool Aid Man comics were used very liberally in order to generate the shirt. I didn't closely peruse it so I'm not sure if it was Three Cheers for Broccoli, World Nom-ination, or something inbetween.

And I'll pass. I know it's thrilling! So thrilling! to get the bag and not know what's in it...but right now, I know what will be in it. A shirt I have, or a shirt I don't want (I've been buying everything I like lately...of course, it looks like my personal stylist is CMDixon, but hey!)

If you look at the secondary characters of the coffee tee, you can see they were directly copied.

For these random t-shirt sales woot should totally put "planet earth" as the hometown of the designer. That way they have their bases covered and can give credit to everyone.

It's not a shame, it's woots fault. they( Kemble & Patterson)submited and shirt of low caliber because they knew woot doesn't check. BUT!!! they must not have known that we do. or maybe they did.

So, if i get a shirt that i already have, what happens then?

I LOVE RANDOM SHIRT SALES. Sad that I missed out on the last one so I bought three this time.

Hopefully, people will learn that those of us on the woot forums are NOT stupid and that we DO do our homework. During the derbies, we have more time to suss out the source material for copied shirts. But unoriginal work will be exposed eventually.

This has been happening since early on in the derbies. It's just a shame that people do not learn from other's experiences.

It's seriously one of my favorite shirts.

This is the first random shirt I've had the chance to buy - if I order more than one, what are the chances of receiving different shirts? I like a gamble as much as the next wooter, bit don't really want two or three of the same design...

I want to know what makes woot so busy that "they" can't "suss out the source material for any given shirt" before it gets to the buy page?

As far as I am aware it is completely random, ie, as much chance of three the same as three different.

However there is normally a 'swapsies' thread on the forums to exchange with your woot brethren and sistren to get different shirts.

Either I got 3 cool new T's or I got 3 Christmas gifts for under $7 each (or some combination of the two).

It's not a question of busy, it's a question of not really caring, I guess.

I still argue that there was a huge hint that they could have picked up on: the fact that kool-aid man isn't the property of either artist in the collab.

You can't catch everything. Every site has these issues at least once (though some don't care enough to rectify the issue once it's seen). but when something is suspicious... the user's history being patchy, or the content of the design not being their own, whether it is a photo or intellectual property of someone else, for examples... there should be investigation forthwith, or else a full scale avoidance. I really don't think that's unreasonable.

I'm gonna get 3. Here's my logic:

If the last round of Random Shirts was relatively recent (it was a mere month ago), and it sold out, that should mean that everything they really wanted to get rid of is already gone; and all that's left are GOOD shirts that people are still buying by choice.

I'm sure someone will point out the many flaws in my thinking. I'll just tell you in advance to lighten the hell up.

I've never in all my randoms gotten three of the same. It's a rarity for anyone, unless you're getting multiple sizes - but if you're getting multiple sizes, they're not all for you anyway, eh?

I kind of figured they would do random as it is a holiday and the woot workers were probably going to take the day off.

In for three! Especially since I missed that insane short-timed one, and I was crying & crying.

First time I did 3 random, I got 2 good shirts.
