I'm happy...I voted for it, I bought it, and I'm hoping for Equinox for my sis-in-law and Autumn Aviary for my wife!

It isn't about the way trees are supposed to look or the way trees actually look for me, it is the fact that this particular vision of a tree, and these particular colors on that tree, make me happy and give me some sense of joy. So I voted for it and bought it. Equinox reminds me of a vision my sis-in-law has of herself, this shirt will make her happy. Wife saw the contenders in the fog and commented on Autumn Aviary, it'll make her happy if I can buy it for her.

Isn't that pretty much the point, to be able to find creative and rare design that makes people happy, is easy to purchase, and gives some part of the wealth generated back to the designer? That's been my takeaway from shirt.woot...does that ring true?

It would work better in my opinion if there wasn't so much focus on the trunk. The coloration for the transition between seasons seems to... hold back a bit too much in my opinion. It should be a full blown leafed tree, not this skimpy thing. Make the winter section ice leaves if you're worried about the other three-fourths getting all the attention.

Brown shirts in my opinion have to work harder - it's not a color I like to wear without good reason. And unfortunately this shirt is too much of a brown on brown with all the attention on that boring trunk.

I think they should print the top five of the derbies and save the dailies for wednesday and thursday, 'cause most of them are just really bad and they don't sell that well anyway, one just sold about 300 this week although, I did like it ;)

My theory is shirt woot use the dailies to keep up with their printing if they were all sell outs could they cope? (I have no idea how big the shirt side of the operation is)

I'm not sure what point you're making. Are you saying that, in order to have a credible opinion, you must be an expert in the field? You've never had a shirt print on here either, so your opinion would be just as useless as Adder's, according to your logic. That's why people who use that argument are so funny--they don't realize that they invalidate their own "RAMY IS KING" opinion by saying that "You couldn't do any better!" when, in fact, they've never had a print on Woot either.

Of course, one Woot in 2 years means this is probably someone's alt trolling account, so whatever. But yeah, think about the consistency of your argument before you use it.

The masses vote for the winner. That's what the derby is all about. Make sure you are voting for the designs you like. The same artists seem to get printed, because they have a good idea of what gets high votes here, which historically isn't difficult to figure out. Encourage more people to submit in the derbies and you will see other people winning. You can't win if you don't play.

Huh, 3024 shirts sold? That's a bit over the usual amount of extra shirts that sneak through at the end of a sell out.

Makes me wonder if the "Wooter to blame for sellout" is the last order or the actual 3000th sale?

This shirt will be for sale again starting tomorrow--here--at $15. ALL shirts continue to be sold after the first day. Every single shirt provides a link to its next-day-sale page in the first comment of its shirt-specific forum thread. A shirt will remain for sale (at $15) until reckoned.

To find out what shirts are available for sale on any given day--other than the obvious "shirt of the day" on the front shirt.woot page--please click on the "reckoning" link found in the top right corner of any shirt.woot page. All the shirt thumbnails in the reckoning are shirts that are still for sale. Click on the thumbnail or title and you will be taken to the shirt's order page.

Faulty logic. Creating more submissions that one considers to be good does not increase the chance of them winning. Besides, there are plenty of very good submissions, but the problem is inertia. Shirt.woot attracts the sort of people who like the shirts that shirt.woot offers. If shirt.woot consistently offers LCD pieces, they attract more LCD customers, who vote for more LCD pieces. For those of us who are not LCD customers, we drift away from the site when it consistently offers really terrible designs (as far as our tastes are concerned).

I used to buy an average of three shirts a month from shirt.woot. Now, I buy an average of zero, and my buying patterns haven't changed. There just hasn't been a shirt worth purchasing for many, many months. There have been several in the derbies, but they never win. Things that appeal to the LCD customer win instead, which do get sold, since that's where the marketshare is moving.

Personally, I was happy when Seki was banned for blatant plagiarism, and was hoping that would extend to RamyB for his part in performing the blatant plagiarism (as well as instigating harassment of the original copyright owner of the work plagiarized). That imposes a shift in the inertia that would hopefully allow the artists that create work that I would actually buy to win a bit, which helps shift the customer base to people with tastes closer to mine than the LCD. Sadly, plagiarism appears to go unpunished beyond removing further sales of the shirt in question, and allowing shirts like this (which is a rehash of Fractal Tree, mixed with an idea stolen from the pre-derby discussion thread, as others have pointed out) to win.

I think this shirt is lackluster. Despite looking like it should have motion in the falling, there is none. The proportions are off as practically everyone has said. The colors are garish and look nothing like real leaves. The placement is bizarre.

This shirt sold out, but that's because the audience that shirt.woot has attracted is now almost entirely composed of the LCD variety which doesn't care much about anything like that. It is very hard to get shirts that are, in my opinion, worthwhile to print, because the other people who use this site like this sort of shirt. Yes, that is how the system is supposed to work. It also means I have no incentive to check here every day like I used to, or to get people excited in this site. When someone comments on one of my cool shirt.woot shirts, I no longer tell them where they can buy it. Partially because shirts like them don't win anymore, but also because they're no longer even on the Reckoning.

The above is pretentious. It is also true. (At least, until the mods hack it up or delete it for mentioning the recent plagiarism incident.)

"If I may be so bold, user at which I am typing..." Wincing slightly, she points again--this time a little more emphatically, a little more forcefully--to her comment above. "Tomorrow, see? You can still get it, see? Read it, please."

I like the idea of this shirt, but it's been done before and much better than on this shirt. For example:
http://files.jmlovextdf.webnode.com/200000021-cb152cd08d/4seasons1tree.jpg
http://aki--tenraku.deviantart.com/art/4-seasons-tree-109703945
http://suchan88.deviantart.com/art/four-seasons-tree-123689490

A friend of mine has a tattoo of a tree showing all the different seasons too that I've always liked that is this exact same idea.
