Re: Hot Dog's Identity Crisis

This is the first time I felt compelled to comment on one of the derby shirts, this is awesome!

Sammy's finger, and a tiny bit of poop are my faves on the ingredients list.

If this wins I will definitely buy one! Even tho I have no idea if I can pull off wearing a hotdog on my shirt, it will be worth it if just ONE person reads the ingredients close enough to get a chuckle!

If I could have you change anything, it'd be to have the text be hand written or at least changed to a font that looks hand written.

I thought that about the font too! Handwritten would make it more personal, but in practice it contrasted too much with the clean look of the pig.

Best presentation ever. I don't eat meat and I don't like horror movies, so this shirt freaks me out, but dang, is it well done!

Annabananaka7 wrote:this i great! So what if its a copied style? Its called being influenced. Artist grow and develop by starting a copied style. So, everyone stop being a-holes. Its an awesome design and thats what matters. Woot will do the rest. Now, go troll on youtube or somewhere else.

T-shirt art is not about having your own style, it's about making a point. My assumption is that you were trying to say something about Dr. Suess's work which is a common experience for most American children.

The style is completely legitimate for t-shirt art. The reason stuff gets rejected is because Woot has to worry about getting legal challenges which selling a few t-shirts won't pay to defend themselves on, so they just reject anything that they think might give them that problem, no matter how legal it might actually be.

It's an awesome B-movie about a killer turkey. I thought it was a Thankskilling reference myself with the title you had since the turkey actually says Gobble Gobble motherf****r in the movie.

Re: cmykondiments

As you are someone who FREQUENTLY complains of a lack of artistry and originality in submissions, I am a little surprised that THIS is what you submit yourself.

It took a 2 second search at the first microstock site I could think of to find several offerings that look almost identical to what you have here.

Are your artistic ideals and "ethics" only supposed to apply to other people?

There are plenty of "break-down" designs, shirts and otherwise, that use the same idea but perhaps a different subject.

I won't claim it's terribly original but in looking around I was surprised there weren't MORE t-shirts playing with this idea.

The fact that there are break-down charts of cuts of beef out there is what makes this T-shirt work so well: as parody.
And every derby has at least one idea that two people come up with. Some are tired, but others times have come -- like this one.

@ThatRobert: I love this. I love how clever it is. I love that you took the suggestion of pointing to the brains and made it your own. I even love that it's on brown.

Every Christian I've showed this to has laughed and found the humor in it. No one has been offended yet, and trust me, they'd tell me if they were. Honestly I held back a little on the design compared to what I could have done

There are lots of shirts in the derby every week that could be taken as offensive by someone. Should Christians receive special treatment? What if there's someone out there whose family was ravaged by polar bears?

Maybe you should troll the comments of every shirt that seems mildly offensive. There's an idea.
