Weird and beautiful. The design would turn heads and puzzle people, but it's so well done that it seems legitimate. Huh?

Great work!

but I wouldn't buy this as is.. the layout and edges are not the best for a t-shirt

Thanks magnolia. I really like the idea. I tried to convince a friend of mine who's a way better artist to draw the idea after I showed him what I did. I'm ok with simple things, but I just didn't know how to put the idea to a shirt quality graphic.

Oh well.

No. Yes.

Re: Deva 2

I'm glad to see this design come back for a second time. The DEVO derby was disappointing because of the weird rules where DEVO picked the #1 design (which placed 22nd in the voting) and Woot! picked the #3 design (which placed 19th in the voting). Your design placed 3rd in the voting, only three votes behind second place, but didn't print because of the strange rules. It was disappointing because in any other derby it would have printed, and it was a really great design that deserved to print.

So, now you've resubmitted it sans DEVO elements, and I think it's an even better design because of that. I've got nothing against DEVO, but I think the DEVO logo would have made it much less wearable for me because I don't listen to their music and haven't since "Whip It" when MTV first went on the air. (By the way, awesome use of a Whippet in the design!) Anyway, the thought of people asking me questions about DEVO that I couldn't answer just because I was wearing the shirt would have made me question whether or not to buy the original design.

I really hope it prints this time around! I'll definitely be in for one. And to the whiners complaining about resubs, I just don't see what the problem is about them. If they're good enough to print on the second submission, what's the issue? If they're not, then they're a two-time loser. So what? How did that hurt anybody?

I stayed up for this?!?

Quicksloth wrote:I immediately thought this was a Twitter reference. I interpreted it as the robot is trying to make friends by creating tweets (the blue birds). Why one is hanging by a string or in a glass container, I can not fit into my theory, so perhaps I am completely off. Or if those were elements you just added since rediscovering the work, then maybe the image fit my theory better before the touch up?

I'm kind of slow on the technology uptake, so I don't think twitter was on my radar then, but good guess. Can this be a new game? Guess what Boots was thinking! She doesn't know herself! ;)

I don't have to be a quarterback to recognize and criticize a bad play, nor do I have to be an artist to recognize and criticize a bad design.

I've had several request from friends to market this TO pregnant women, but i think that it would even be fun on a dude. The question begs, in a world of synthetic lives, would gender disolve to simulational functionality and perhaps nothing more...
