This is some fantastic work, Dooom. You nailed the space-age feel, and the girls are lovely.

I love your regular work, and yet this is a wonderful departure for you stylistically. The Saul Bass inspiration really looks organic here. Nice work!

Not sure how old your little one is, but the nice thing about t-shirts is that they can be worn big...my (2 1/2 yr old) son is just now growing out of regular 18 month sized clothes and I still put him in K4 Woot shirts all this past summer.

Ooh, I like this a lot! You captured this theme really, really well. And fogging on your first submission here is no small feat.

Re: Helping Out

I really like the direction of this, but I think it would benefit from a background. You've got a great handle on the style of the characters, and I think some environment would really knock this out of the park should you decide to submit it elsewhere.

Even though this isn't really my style, your talents still shine through. Can you please have an entry in every derby?

PS - Chris are you on Twitter? One of my friends retweeted something from a person with 'cdixon' in their handle, but I couldn't tell if it was you.

Spiritgreen wrote:Lovely colors and the cats are fun shapes.

I wonder if it would be better with just one mouse on the design, and a tall cat filling the whole right-hand window? Either way, it GMV. :^)

I was contemplating just one mouse and how best to fill that space. Definitely going to tweak this and work in the suggestions!

@uniique Thanks so much!

Thanks! I do have a poor neglected website. Warnging: It's completely out of date.

Thanks! Sometimes I take weeks off to work on shirts for other sites or when I'm burned out from my full-time job.

And my Twitter handle is @cmdixon2

Heh heh, I made a Photoshop brush a long time ago after seeing some of Kevin Dart's art that's just perfect for this style.

Come on guys, we need to heave this sucker back up in the fog where it belongs.

Thanks bluejester It's back in the fog now, but I guess since it dropped out that means it's lower in there. Can you use your Vader powers and force it up higher?;)

I really like the design, and I do have to agree that the sea dragon is a bit of a detraction. It pulls the eye in two different directions. Perhaps if the eye was a bit more muted with just a glint of light from the lantern then the eye sees the boat and then notices the dragon. Just a suggestion, obviously you don't "need" it because you fogged with your first entry, *envious*. But I do have one question. This design is great and all but I'm just not seeing much of the mid century modern influence in it. Besides the tree design with the way the branches curl up, that's very Eyvind Earle, but other than that... I probably just don't understand the style they are asking for.

Right, thus the shirt detail shows there is no text on the shirt, only on the thumbnail and detail view (see lower and upper left for design).

    Re: You Missed a Spot!

This reminds me of a former girlfriend, but while she'd want me scrubbing, she was the one who liked to get whipped. So, for me, this would be a reversed role reversal reversed, and spanks for the memories. Now that is kinky!

I bought a shirt. Woot's it to ya?

    Re: construction paper radio waves

It is a shame this shirt is doing better, this is one of the few shirts that actually fits the theme. Most of the shirts a little too modern less of the mid century.

    Re: Rain Shower

As much as I like the design of this shirt, there is something just a little off with the colors. The feel to modern-now instead of mid-century modern. The pattern used in the purple ribbons (sorry can't think of a better word) is compelling, but it blends in to much with the design.

pickabattle wrote:I personally like the retro-boxing, but I agree that the color scheme is throwing me off. The shirt color, especially, doesn't seem to jive. I think something darker would work better. There have been a couple of nice entries this go around that are using black / white / grays...perhaps something like that might work here? Anyhow, just my two cents. Good luck!
