  • Winning a BLA does NOT mean this shirt won't print -- I'm hoping it does.
  • Your one and only gift is this crappy little badge in your shirt thread. Enjoy.

thanx for seeing where i was trying to go with the design...scaled back...less perfect...i was hoping to merge Saul Bass-ish poster-style with a subtle curve like many of his logo designs.

^ this... I wish this shirt would get printed this week, but it looks like it's not gonna make it. I'd buy at least two of these. Do more country themed and in this style... it's awesome!

I don't even need another shirt right now, especially since Christmas is here and I'll probably get clothes. But if this wins I'll probably buy it anyway 'cause I really like it! Well done.

Re: Same Plan, Different Outcome

This is wonderfully drawn and such a funny concept. The textures are great & I love the little touches like the Martian's book being electronic.

Maybe the layout gets slightly confusing in the middle? That's the only thing I can think of that's holding it back. It should have a lot more votes.

The more streamlined rockets...the narrower rocket trails...the additional black outlining...the zestier cityscape...the little atom design on the lab jacket...the eye-popping oval layout...etc, etc, etc!

Its rare to see a re-sub thats improved in every way from the original...but thats exactly what you've done sir!! This is quite possibly the most improved re-sub I've ever seen. GMV!

one more stab to make myself feel better...

there may look like there is text in this submission but i assure you there is not.

you just can't separate Saul Bass design from his unique form of typography...
it is so iconic

Thanks for the comment! Though in all fairness, I think there are plenty of other shirts that fit the theme at least as closely as this shirt, some probably more so. But yeah, the more I look at this design, the more I like it...I think it came out quite well. Will have to submit somewhere else later...

I agree, I think this derby has produced some amazing shirts and was a really nice challenge for people to push out of their design comfort zones and try something different.

And thanks for your comments, too!

Re: Tis the Season

I skipped over this one the first time because the thumbnail made it look simplistic but I really like the cactus tree and the off-center placement. Perhaps if you had focused on the star and zoomed out a bit there would be more clicks. Anyway, GMV

sTyLeS wrote:It's well drawn, but wearing someone's grandma on your shirt just seems a bit awkward.

haha, that is pretty funny. I didn't think about it like that, but there is some truth. What is really funny is that it is a picture of a friend of mine and she's in her early twenties... I'll have to tell her someone thought she was a granny!

Thanks for the compliment, though.
