What no hair spray? >; )

Excellent job as always! I wish you had submitted both this and your don't play with matches design.

The facial expressions and styling have a great 50s film reel styling.

Oh and congrats on getting Tron Ancestry mentioned on boingboing.net today.

tjost wrote:Here's a cool little art lesson, plastic and polished metal reflect when non diffused light shine on them Both the phone and lighter are made out of these materials hence shine. I like giving my pieces dimension, and adding simple high lights and low lights enables this. These practices were being used in cartooning long before Ramy or I came onto the scene and I suspect will continue on past us. I don't however put shiny "spots" on furry or non shiny animals or surfaces like some other artists though.

It's not that you used lighting effects and it's not that ramy somehow revolutionized shirt design with his own technique. Far from it actually since his "style" is a bastardization of standard chibi art at best. That said, he was the first to truly bring it here and since there have been a rash of imitations to garner votes (see almost anything patrickspens had subbed in say the last year).

It's also not the shininess so much as it is the lazy fat lines that look like they were drawn with a fat marker. Correct enough to make sure people can recognize what's being drawn but sloppy enough to get the "dawwww" effect. No one did this here before ramy and I very highly doubt any assertion of "independent origin" (see above).

The iphone is characterized by clean sharp lines. Crisp and precise. This misses the boat by a mile in all respects so wanting to add some depth really doesn't hold any water because there are almost a million ways to do it without making your designs look like a ramy clone.

jewelwing wrote:Thanks very much! I don't really expect it to get a ton of votes. It might be too simple, or too small on the shirt for a lot of voters. It was just something I wanted to draw and it was fun to take my time with all the curvy lines.

Oh, Jewel. I've got to blame your thumbnail on this one. Didn't even see notice it as a legit design until now. Although pocket sized designs don't win too often, but I do think it would have received far more votes.

So cute and the kids look creepy...in a good way! Not 100% sure about the colour of the shirt (maybe a pale blue?) but you can't have everything!Would be a definite buy for me! ^_^

The only comparison I see is that they are both nicely drawn tigers with a similar perspective.

This is a wonderful drawing and has my vote.

CapSea,

Is it the fact that the character is effeminate? Is it the title? Is it the rainbow? Is it the possibility that the character might be hoopy?

I'm wondering if the rejection was because it could be seen as offensive to hoopy people or because you're offended by hoopy people?

I know you didn't personally reject the shirt, but you seem to be the voice of the rejectionator and have a theory of why it was rejected.

If you are going to respond, I'd appreciate if you keep the personal insults to my upbringing and my judgement to a minimum. Thanks.

The woot editor used the word hoopy for a synonym of "happy".

I had to repost the dog, this being my first time out here I didn't have the larger image on a tee, so it was initially rejected. I lost the 14 of you who had voted for me... if you are so inclined, please vote again. I appreciate it!
