Remember that part in Dances with Wolves where Kicking Bird asks John Dunbar how many more white people are coming, and he looks up and says, "Like the stars?" That's not really relevant to this week's Derby theme, but the title made us think of it. Anyway, this week we want you to cast your gaze upward and give us your best star-inspired shirts. Maybe using either Astronomy, Astrology, or some heretical mish-mash thereof for your jumping off point. Now for the rules:

No video games.

No references to tales of any wars long ago or far away among the aforementioned stars.

No bunnies.
And people always seem to dance around it, no kittens or penguins either.

No text.

There you go...make constellations for all the 'gassy' foods out there.

Alas, I would if I had the tools to do so. I don't have photoshop/artist pro or whatever it is that the artists on here use. I've thought about entering stuff before (I'd like to think that I've come up with clever ideas that I haven't shared, but self-flattery is cheap), but I am pretty sure that I lack the computer software to do so.

I'll just sit back and enjoy what I see. If I ever get the right software to enter, maybe I will, or I'll see if someone wants to do a collab.

I am so psyched about this theme...I haven't had a design station since last fall when there was a tragic death in my computer room!I have been voting and commenting here and there on a little dell w/out design capabilities... it almost killed me to miss the fire derby last week. My new mac mini is coming home tonight, thank you for this magical mystical theme!

I can not wait!!!Right now I am painting my computer room , after having studied the art of feng shui for a few months...almost ready for the new "baby"!!!!

See you all tomorrow or tomorrow night I hope.

I'm working on a fun, literal interpretation of Gene Roddenberry's "Wagon Train to the stars" quote.

I have a question for the staff. If someone could answer it would be most helpful.

The rules say no 'kitties', but would a lion or a tiger be acceptable? There are some celestial bodies that are named for these big cats.

Thanks ^^.

Thanks ^^.

That would be fine. No house cats is what I think we were aiming for there. We wouldn't want to exclude all of the dashingly handsome and intelligent Leos from the fun.

Neat!

Thanks guys, I'll be looking into these once my wife gets home. I'm more of the English Lit./art nerdy type and she is the comp/sci/physics major so she is in charge everytime I want or need something downloaded to the computer. Too many past incidents of either downloading the wrong tranlator files or near misses with spyware have resulted in a mutually agreed upon "download ban" for me.... =(

This makes me giggle.

But I'm very impressed that you stick with your side...I refuse to do maintenance for friend/family because of broken promises not to download at random.

OOH... I wonder.

If a zillion years ago they hadn't have named the constellations, What would todays society see in the skys? What would we name the stars?

Awww, you didn't beat your record time.
But - shiny! And it gives me more of an inkling which way I want to go.
I really am not looking forward to a lot of shirts taking 'stars' to mean 'celebs'. I want to see more like this - shiny, sparkly, maybe a bit mystical.
