I also would´ve prefered to see a different choice in the color of the design. Since this is a t-shirt, it would be better if this could work even when seen from a distance. The way it is now I´m afraid all the detail you put in the design will get lost.

ummm, it's a t-shirt. It's not going to be displayed in the Louvre, it's going to get mustard and/or baby-drool dripped on it.

I love it. It's refreshing and unpretentious, in the same vein as Bassanimation's 'KarniRata' and tjost's 'Monkey Business' designs. There are enough 'serious' shirts in the derby this week - I appreciate the fresh air of some humor as well.

Hey, what do I know? I just wear 'em, I don't design 'em.

Lol! You must not often use phrases like that in your posts. Woot loves to mess with us, subbing one ridiculous phrase for the one that made sense, is overused, uses profanity - whatever. So, O.M.G is currently One more gargleblaster.

And when you re-sub (you can hit that rid X in the right corner to pull it back), make sure you trim/re-size to 580X580 first. That way Woot doesn't have to do it for you and distort your image.

It's a beautiful drawing, and the colors work very nicely on cream. I think it's lacking a little something in either heft (thin lines) or context - I can't decide. I also think the halftones fight with the otherwise lovely linework. It really is very pretty, though. Good luck!

I like the drawing - cool idea. It looks like it belongs on a tattoo flash, though, rather than a shirt - no shading. The blue ink is also very light, and difficult to see.

Actually, if you just reversed the hands and had them cup the flower, I think that would work. OF course, it's be like you were looking at it as the presenter, not the viewer (that thumb position thing).
I have a bigger issue with the halftones. I get what you were tyring to achieve with the fire, but the halftones compete with the linework and are distracting. I might suggest dropping the fire idea, or introducing another color if you have a spare or can free one up - a sublte yellow for the fire impression, and stay with your great linework instead of the halftones.

Seriously, Thank you so much!! I didn't realize it had to be square. I guess it makes sense though. I have my new image ready, just waiting for an email, I guess.

I really like the idea, but you really should look at more pictures of cobras. The hood doesn't fold in the middle like that. It spoils the design for me.

I have to chime in and agree with the others. This is spectacular, but not going to get noticed, or look well on a shirt because of the lack of contrast. You could probably achive the same effect with a little more contrast using an antique gold tone. Woot's brown is a warm shade, and a warm gold would look great on it, and separate better from the background to the eye. IMO.

Would make more sense if the blue bin wasn't the same shape and size as the others. Having a divot missing from the top might help.

sorry, i didn't take into consideration that they convert it to jpeg when they post the shirt comp. it gets kind of blurred and its not as easy to see it that size.

but i don't know if it'd be worth resubmitting...

All it takes is a purchase from one of the woot family of websites (shirt, wine, kids, etc), then you get a vote!

I mostly agree with you, this has no business being in this competition. But, I don’t think this is the same as "the epic begins". That one at least mostly fit the derby.

I've actually tried to stop using paths so much. The Fox Maiden and this one were both hand drawn with a standard pencil brush in Pshop. I'm trying to get my work to look a bit less 'stiff', which sometimes happens if things are too clean. I still try really hard to get the lines to look nice though. It's my personal twitch with art ^^;. I really like how some people's work looks a bit less 'clean', but has a lot of life to it.
