Dang, I'm on the outside looking in.

Looks like I need to increase my videogame playing to ninety-five-% of my daily activities. The outside world is already a distant memory thanks to my console collection, and I've sacrificed cooking and washing to get the percentage this high. Still, one more game addiction couldn't hurt, right?

::off to buy Minecraft::

As someone who has long praised MJ for being able to create a gamer shirt with smart enough concepts and smart enough executions to lure in even the non-gamer, I am utterly baffled by this design.

Oh, I get it's about Minecraft. But it's only about Minecraft. And that's what makes me so sad.

I dunno how kosher it is to post links to other t-shirt sites on here, but for anyone disappointed with this shirt or wanting more, ThinkGeek has a couple Minecraft shirts. I'm pretty sure (not 100%) that Mojang gets some of the profit from the ThinkGeek shirts as well.

I like this shirt for two reasons. One Minecraft is frickin' awesome. Two This shirt accurately represents my personally adapted Maslow's Hierarchy of needs.

Just was able to dig down for a while... until I was in some inescapable pit of dirt.

Maybe I'll give it another try and this time not be so dumb (hopefully)

There's not enough coal in the shirt to have it be realistic.

I bought one, but for me, I would have liked the text to be "Explore & Punch & Mine & Craft." But it's still good.

Nothing's inescapable. Just dig a stair upwards towards the light (or creepers, whichevs).

So I bought Minecraft. I really like that it has no instructions and the experience is a freeform, self-spun narrative of exploration...

...on the other hand, can someone tell me how to make a freaking torch? Because so far my story is of a man who digs his own grave every night and then waits for death in his deep, spider-filled pit of fail. :p

Is it? I thought it was a direct reference to the well-known Beatles image.

Punch some trees to get wood. Press 'I' to open inventory. Put tree chunks in small crafting pane, to convert to lumber. Put two pieces of lumber in a vertical column in the crafting block to make sticks. Find and harvest some coal. Open crafting again and put one stick and one coal in vertical alignment. Voila - you have 4 torches.

You can also use charcoal, if coal is hard to find. Build a workbench (2x2 square of lumber), then use the workbench to make a furnace (3x3 square of cobblestone with the middle spot empty - get cobblestone by breaking stone with a pickaxe - get a pickaxe by... looking up the crafting recipe). Put some un-lumbered wood in the top slot of the furnace and a fuel source (wood or lumber will do) in the bottom. The wood will cook into charcoal, which can be used in place of coal as a fuel source in furnaces or to make torches.

The edit button is your friend.

Anyway, I love me some Minecraft, but I prefer gaming shirts that have a more humorous edge to them, like MJ's "Cake is a Liar". That's one of my 5 favorite woots shirts to wear, because everyone I know thinks it's hilarious, whether or not they've played or even heard of Portal.

no coal?

"First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin. Then, shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shalt be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, nor either count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then flingest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

Hey guys, I heard some people needed some help surviving. You can look on the Minecraft Wiki, here: http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Beginner%27s_guide or just google "Minecraft Tutorial" and you'll find one soon enough.

Ohhh, right. So you use patterns of items for crafting. I was just trying combos. Thanks gjbloom!

And thanks for the tutorial venturboy. :D

I'm now a step closer to being a Minecraft fan and needing this shirt.

I love Minecraft... But I dislike this shirt.
Yea, I get the reference to Minecraft. Yea, I get the reference to the Beatles shirt.

The thing is... The Beatles shirt had names. This has verbs. That just doesn't fit as well.

Also... I'm very surprised no one has made mention of this, but those are NOT the default textures of Minecraft. If you're going to make a Minecraft shirt, you can't just throw whatever you want in there.

I do appreciate the idea though, and I hope it leads to more in the future.
