jxchen wrote:This is a very obvious play on H.P. Lovecraft's Cthulhu. The illustration is nice, but it is not within the rules of the derby this week.

It's not really the same. Cthulhu is more along the lines of Dracula and/or vampires, mummies (of which there is one in the fog), and other classic literary concepts.

Are you kidding? People would think you were making a statement on society. They'd be all "ooh, that guy is soooo ironic".

Awww thanks. I added both the treble and bass clefs into the image late in the coloring. Originally they weren't there but I thought it'd be neat to include them.

The art is great. I wonder if the placement could be improved though? Judging by the given example, I think maybe having the design a bit smaller might improve it? Is it even in the printable margins?

Re: Cooler than You

Here is my critique. Maybe something other than a cutesy penguin (or insert random overdone animal) would have made this worthwile. When I saw the thumbnail, I said to myself "no", then clicked the image, and realized, yes, it was what I thought it was... this can't get my vote obviously.
I do like the headphones, I think they look great, the rest of the drawing leaves much to be desired.
Dude, I know you have talent, I've can see it in most of your stuff. Why not try and use it, instead of thumbing your nose at your critics?
