Actually, this makes me think of the Huygens–Fresnel principle, which, in extreme layman's terms, says that light doesn't really travel in a straight line -- it travels anywhere it can go. Most of the time, most of its non-straight paths get canceled out (due to self-interference? it's all a bit vague decades after undergrad-college). But disturbances like edges, prisms, or other obstacles can cause diffraction that allows some light to "bend" around corners and other counterintuitive things. (Apologies to the folks out there who actually finished their physics degrees, and might be able to explain it more accurately.)

My thought was that this must be one trippy obstacle course to allow these photons' paths to look so organic. Definitely Pink Floyd on psilocybin (if that's not redundant).

I'm in a vocal jazz ensemble called Spectrum. I'm trying to decide whether to buy this shirt without letting the name determine it for me. I'm having difficulty.

Huh. While I do like SOME ramyb designs (I'm not ashamed to say I love my "I'm Not Contagious" shirt), I can't believe how many are printing at the moment. People voted and I've got no quarrel with the results. With all of the ramyb hating going on I would be STUNNED if this hasn't already been at least snarkily suggested in the past, but what about a ramyb boutique until his sales wane? ramyb.shirt.woot.com (or however that subdomain business works)? I know it flies in the face of everything woot, but... Did I just hear heads exploding across the country? lol! It seems its headed in that direction anyway. His fans are loyal and vote up and buy pretty much everything he sells (not a dig). Clearly, occasional and new buyers dig his stuff as well. Ramyb wins, Woot wins and, more importantly, other artists and customers (read: me) who desire a little more variety of designs printing. Everyone is happy, happy, happy! But then again, what do I know about happiness? I've just stumbled to my pc after having my head over my toilet for the past couple hours thanks to a newly discovered/confirmed food allergy... Delirium has taken hold...

Looking for MXLs Alien Sonogram, Tin: Old Skool, Puppet Checkup and Flesh Wound from Teefury; A Wicked Mess, F5 Refreshes You, and Sissy Fight. PM or teetrade (tomsman)for trade or sell.

The first cassette tape I ever owned was "Dark Side of the Moon", which means yes, I am a child of the 70s, and it also means I both love and hate this design.

An opinion should be the result of thought, not a substitute for it.

Darn, tough luck Diana and Naolito. So close to printing and I'd have bought either of your shirts. :-/

Gotta hand it to 2nd and 3rd place this week though, both late entries. It's going to be a triple sell-out too.

2 ramy shirts in 1 weekend... Think I may pack it in and take my money to other sites. This is just getting pathetic at this point.

I've already rid myself of the ramy shirts I bought when I was ignorant to everything that goes down.

I wish the design was centered. I like it otherwise. I do already have the fractal tree shirt and I love it. Not sure I need two very colorful tree shirts.

The prism sets this design apart. You can only put bunny ears on certain things & rainbow trees aren't one of them.I bet he didn't think of using a bunny eared unicorn to cause the rainbow effect.Maybe next time.

I love the shirt, but can we seriously have a Derby winning category specifically for ramyb? Like.. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and ramyb? Then, at least other people would actually get a little bit more of a chance.

bptillman

quality posts: 1 Private Messages bptillman

Ramyb wins twice in one derby? Really? Especially with this one being pretty darn close to another design, so much so "proof" had to be posted it wasn't the same. Sounds like someone just wanted an extra entry in the derby and couldn't think of anything. Not like he has ever had shirts get rejected before because of the design being so similar to an already existing one. Oh wait....

I'm also ignoring how it's exactly like the Dark Side of the Moon album cover, which is a whole another argument.

C'mon woot, you can do better than this.

Very derivative design. I think ramyb has compromising photos of woot brass.

It's a gorgeous design, which is probably why it won, but seriously, two wins by the same artist?

Even not counting the fact that it's ramyb, that seems a bit unfair to the other artists that submitted.

Can anyone clarify the Crick reference? All I can think of is x-ray crystallography, but Crick didn't do that work. Rosalind Franklin did. That poor woman is still getting robbed of credit.

I believe the Crick reference is referring to the unconfirmed rumor that Crick was under the influence of LSD when he realized the double helical structure of DNA.

hmm... a rainbow tree. I wish this came in brown.

Can we please just rename the site Ramyb.woot and get it over with, srsly?

My thoughts exactly. I own a few ramyb shirts and bought this one because it's rainbow and a good design, but the fact that it's *always* ramyb winning is kind of ridiculous.
