I like your work, I like the design. I'm torn because it seems out of theme, but the shirt is sublime. Not sure what to vote on this yet, so I guess I'll wait until Wednesday to see what it's up against. I would like one but it just doesn't exactly fit the theme for me.

Agreed. I think it's the weird dark part at the bottom of his face. It isn't quite defined enough. The ear is easy to pick out once you see that's what it is.

It is still my opinion that the red over powers the design. Maybe if the main design was in a red box with the shirt another color but for me it over powers it. Sorry!

I know how this "sketchy style" is your style. But your recent print wasn't sketchy and it won. Just saying

Honestly, I hate when something doesn't get rejected that should be (to the point that I stopped coming here for a while), but I feel that this shirt is definitely on-theme because nowhere in the rules is it said that the design must explicitly adhere to all elements of a pre-1960 movie/poster. To me it sounds like the design must simply elude to it. Again, I feel that the only thing that makes this appear as though it doesn't fit in the pre-1960 category is the hair; one minor element of a design should not be enough to place it off-topic. Many of the other designs in this derby (which are also on topic) are referencing the pre-1960's but do so in a modern style.

This design still expresses the fundamental character of pre-1960's even if a few of the elements may be considered contemporary.
