I loved watching black & white Samurai movies as a child & I love them even more now!

A comibination nod to Akira Kurosawa's "The Seven Samurai" and "Usagi Yojimbo" (Rabbit Bodyguard a famous folk lore about a rabbit samurai) and Toshiro Mifune, one of the greatest Samurai Actors of all time. He was Kurosawa's favorite actor.

Clever and well done! Though, I think it's kinda "cheating" to put modern pop culture references in designs for this derby. Of course, if woot agreed, they'd have a "no pop culture" rule...so I guess it's fine. Regardless, I'd buy it, even with my aversion to pop culture shirts.

I love old movie monsters. As I grew older though, my taste changed towards the gritty realistic world of Noir. The two fit together rather well.

OK,I was so sick of all the b1tching about people doing cutesy-wootsy designs and WINNING! It's a game, it has perameters, rules... etc. I play games well and I'm a pretty good artist. I'm kinda new to Tshirt desig, but I've done comic books and illustration for 25 years! I can do "deadlines!" This is my kinda game!

So, to show off my new McDaddy skillz, I was going to enter 9 desighns in this derby, all having a common theme: Rabbits!

I got started and had 3 done, when I started working on Seven Samurabbits. These were s'posed 2B "quick and cutesy," but I couldn't do it, I went full out on this one (down to the last detail). 16 hours!

I may finish some of the other 4, if I have time tomorrow (wait, it is tomorrow), ...we'll see?

I'm really happy with this one. It turned out so much better than I imagined. So, what started off as "showing Off," rendered me a pearl.

Copyright comes into play when you use the real designs themselves, or do not make significant changes to the designs. The robot and woman are in a completely different style from the cartoon. It actually took me a moment to figure out the reference. At first I was like "Whuu, the girl looks like she only has one eye! Wait a second....I see what you did there..." :P

To me, this is a very good example of parody. I could be wrong, but I see nothing at all that would mark this for rejection. TGentry did a great Family Guy reference sometime back that was a good parody. The character reference was recognizable, but it wasn't the exact character.

I hope you're right. I instantly saw "Bender", took me a longer on "Leela". Tgentry's griffin was far less recognizable.

Also....Robby the robot....how appropriate.

This design is so awesome and on-theme. I agree, though, that the man facing out could use more definition, maybe by highlighting the collar or hat more? Tweak and resubmit maybe?

I think your colors are reversed. 3D glasses have the red lens on the left, and this requires it on the right for the 3D to work.

I freed up an ink color so I figured I'd submit a traditional green Frankenstein's monster (as opposed to the classic colors).

Some extra shading and tweaks in here too. Hope you like it!

I follow what you're saying, j5, but I don't have a pair of anaglyph glasses to test it. When I built this, I was mimicking the color placement of 3d images I found online. Perhaps onawhitehorse and mojophilter are willing to weigh in about whether the starfield appeared closer to them or farther away than the ships, and which color lens they had over which eye.
