Re: Literary fail

I get it, but I also don't get it. Is it referencing something on the interwebs, or is it just stand-alone ridiculous. It is pretty funny, and there are at least a few other t-shirt possibilities in the comment thread.

Good job!

That may be. I've never read (nor been interested in) the Harry Potter books so it's hard for me to say. It could also be Highlander, as that's the lion on the Highlander crest.

Perhaps it's all open to interpretation

Lemmie know what I'm missing, or where I'm wrong!

In Orange:

Water or fire =
Waves = I'm thinking this is still part of the James and the Giant Peach story
James & The Giant Peach
Clouds = One (Richard Bach)?

In Yellow:

Farmer in wheat field? = Catcher in the Rye
Biplane = Could be The Little Prince or almost any of the Richard Bach books - Biplane? Illusions? Bridge Across Forever?

Agreed - without the text it still makes perfect sense and doesn't actually list the derby theme.

Love the illustration; hate the text. I think the drawing can stand on its own two legs. . . . so to speak.

Edit: also, the text might be legally protected.

Brilliant effort ittybittyx. You bowled me over when I saw your post and read through you very accurate guesses. Maybe I should have organised prizes.
I had never intended to provide a definitive list of solutions. As has already been proposed.

zzzzz78759 wrote:Perhaps it's all open to interpretation

For example, while I was thinking of The Little Prince when I drew a rose under the glass, it's exciting to think that it would symbolise Beauty and the Beast to you. That said, I can't deny you some answers, so I'll provide a couple of clues and answers for each colour.
Red
Is that a talon at the end? No, just the start of an odd number of steps.
Quill & scroll = The Scarlet Letter
Orange
Water or fire = Water under the peach. Fire coming out of the book pages
Waves = Behind the orange is The Big Orange Splot
Yellow
Lemons = cdrewlow is right. There's also a children's book with the same title.
Farmer in wheat field? = zzzzz78759 surprised me as that is what I had in mind
House= The Yellow House
Green
Asparagus? Artichokes? Poorly drawn leaves
Book w/vines = Jack & The Beanstalk ?? I like your solution. Mine was The Jungle Book
Blue
Dragon = Blue Dragon (Dark Heavens series) ? I was thinking Saphira from Eragorn
Purple
Coat = The Purple Coat

Here's some hints for some that weren't on your list-
Something under the floor.
An eruption near the peach.
A cloudless patch of sky.
A grinning crescent moon.

Thanks very much to everyone for keeping me coming back to read the comment thread and find out what other discoveries have been made.

Re: Literary fail

I think this is very funny to look at on a computer screen, but are people not at all concerned that others will look at your shirt and think you are ignorant or brainless? I'm sorry, but having something blatantly incorrect branded on your chest without any sort of punchline following it just makes zero sense to me.

In Yellow:

2 Daisies & 1 Sunflower = Not sure about the daisies but the sunflower could be "The Sunflower".
Lemons = I'm going with the "Oranges and Lemons" someone else mentioned.
Ring = Not convinced this is LOTR - could be but it looks very much like a wedding ring.
House = Ummm..."The Yellow House"?

In Purple:

Coat = The Purple Coat
