Re: The Original Blockbuster

Being the writer´s nicknames one of the most important aspects of this design, I´m not sure how well this will work on a t-shirt, because the text size will make it mostly unreadable, except from a very short distance.

taylertot wrote:I like the design -- very good artwork. But I don't like the concept. Not the concept of the design, just the concept of digital readers. I'll give my vote to you, but I'll grumble about it.

Oh, I don't like them either on principle. I'm a book fanatic, with lots of collectable books. But I thought this would be something for the younger folks.

Rant: Electronic files, to me, have little inherent value. Oh sure, you can buy them, but that's it. You can't collect 1st print ebooks, you can't get ebooks autographed, and you can't sell them or lend them without getting in trouble.

We no longer need a flashlight to read in the dark. And now even trees can enjoy a good book.

Re: SUPER FUN BOOK TIMES

It's a great work of art, but I don't feel too comfortable with it. It's just too suggestive. She looks a bit like a blow up doll.

Hey, thanks. :^)

Glad to get this weird idea out of my brain. If I can just plunger out another 427 of them I might live a normal life.

Re: Gnomes and Molearty

While this design is obviously beating mine badly (thanks, friends who refuse to vote for me...), I think this should have gotten more votes by now. I like it better than some of the shirts above it...

Re: No Frigate Like a Book

My third entry!

Based on Emily boghogonson's poem that begins "There is no frigate like a book to take us lands away..." and also a little bit on Shakespeare's "The Tempest."

Good luck to all entrants!

PS: Let me know if the shirt comp image doesn't show up for you, it's been a problem for me in the past.

I just thought it would be nice to have text since it's allowed, and have the first read be something you actually read.

Re: Use Your Imagination

Hey guys! Thanks for the early votes. The idea behind this design is an origami dragon crawling out of a book, symbolizing a creation of a character from the reader's imagination. As a little note, the text is from "The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo." Also, this is a continuation of a style of design that I created a few years ago that some may remember, called "Fly, Paper." I've been wanted to do another origami-type shirt and I am glad that this gave me the opportunity.

Thanks a bunch, I hope you all enjoy

[quote postid="4523270" user="katfin25"] And the host was Geordi from Star Trek, which I always enjoyed pointing out when my brothers had Star Trek on. I still do it when I come across Enterprise reruns!

I do this to my husband constantly. It is the only thing that gets me through his almost monthly marathons. Well that and analyzing the show through a cold war war perspective.

Love the shirt GMV.

Great color choices and I love the large graphic placement with the pen anchoring the center of the design.

Re: Roland's Quest

Inspired by The Dark Tower series by Stephen King:

"The man in black fled across the desert, and the Gunslinger followed."

Quite possibly the greatest opening line of a story ever written. Long days and pleasant nights, my friends.

Really feels like it is straight out of a graphic novel. Love that you used silhouettes to keep that mysterious feel of the opening line.

i agree. the graphic is awesome, but the design had WAY too much text makes it kinda klunky.

Re: American Heritage

However you feel about it, this is a design inspired by the recent revisionist attacks on Mark Twain’s Huck Finn and their desire to expunge all racial slurs within. This is not the first time people want to revise or censor American Literature. Such is our American heritage hence the name.

Here's a link to a larger jpeg of the design for review
