tjost wrote:Nice artwork Lucky, but I don't think anyones gonna get the Starwars ref without the title or the image of the wookie once the derby is done. Bandoliers have been in use for a loooong time even in Mexico, and adding the food will not help in that connection.

You underestimate the power of the nerds.

This is great, and I love the placement as well. Nice to see something not centered.

Re: La Ceiba

This is a ceiba tree. The Mayans thought of this tree as their "tree of life" or "world tree". I remember seeing a huge ceiba tree growing above the jungle in the Chiapas. It was surreal and excellent.

Okay I added possibly bigger pictures....

sorry it isn't a TACO TREE!!! Okay, now that is out of my system. Here they are:

curli76 wrote:Cool design, but is there anything you can do to make this shout "Italy" less?

Thanks! Unfortunately Italy wasn't interested in changing their flag's colors... I'm still seeing what I can do to get them to stop growing such glorious mustaches.

Re: La Fiesta

I concur with the "how do you do this" comment. I can always spot your designs the moment that they pop up and they do not disappoint. So many little things within this design, can we get close ups/details?

Totally!!

This is awesome, Walmazan! I love all the tiny details. I think my favorite is the burro with glasses in the lower left corner. Such amazing characters and tiny scenes! +1 for sure. I'd be happy with a 3-fer Walz sweep .

Re: Frida Y Diego

Bwa ha ha ha, love it!

The colors seem really washed out though. I understand not wanting the in-your-face brights, but making them more saturated (bold? darker? whatever the opposite of washed out is) I think would help the clean lines of the animated-style.

Re: El Zorro

I can understand woot's decision to reject for text, but stating that El Zorro has nothing to do with Mexico is completely false. Not only was the fictional character of Zorro a hero of the Mexican people, but the real "El Zorro" was an actual hero in the Mexican War for independence. I wanted to resubmit this because I feel that it deserves a chance to compete, but ultimately it is up to woot to decide.
