question: so this silver shirt color, does the silver in it like shine or is it just a solid silverish gray?

It would be a solid light grey. A shimmering shirt would be rather ostentatious, no?

Well it's not like we planned it. I didn't spend 5 hours working on mine while completely sick just to wait for the right time to post so this would happen. On the other hand I really laughed when I saw it. =D

j5 wrote:I agree this looks like patrickspens' work, but is style even copyrightable? I know "look and feel" wasn't. How can it be considered stealing even if radscoolian intentionally tried to copy someone else's style? (which I don't think he did)

It is unethical to most the art world. I really don't mean to be a jerk and I am not trying to get it rejected, but it's just too close to comfort for me not too question it. You are right, it may not be intentional, but if it is, it is a very wrong, even if copyright rules don't apply. It's just a lack of respect. I understand that people may think differently, so I will just stop here so I don't derail this thread more than I have already.

Figured I'd try this bad boy on Black with a little color variant. A redux of my Guy Swatter entry with a new name and more action packed thumbnail. Enjoy!

ChaosDoctor07 wrote:...In this case, where it is implied that the witch has been killed(and is in the oven), the situation portrayed is too similar to the original source to be considered a reversal.

Is it not okay that he's being true to the original source? They go from "about to be eaten" to eaters themselves. That's a role reversal.
The version I grew up with had the witch initially turn the kids into gingerbread, then (I forget exactly how) they turn human again, push her in the oven, and she becomes gingerbread (which the kids then eat).
It's true to the "role reversal" theme, even if PatrickSpens didn't invent the idea. He certainly represents it very well.

laggyg wrote:Tan could work, but I just don't like it as a color...grey could be asphalt with a lighter colored knight, or silver with a darker armored knight...but the other color ides you present might pose a threat to the rest of the image's colors in some way. I like the blonde suggestion and keeping it on the same color shirt unless you want to do a different color shirt AND rework whatever colors may have a conflict as a result.

TL;DR: Make her blonde =D

Also, this shirt gave me a very Heavy Metal vibe...I like! =)

Those are some good ideas. I'm afraid i would split my vote if i do multiple ones with different colors. thanks for the help i'm going to seriously consider it.

bpeeples wrote:A request if I may...

I work at a print shop and get to do lots of business card, post card, and banner layouts, but not a lot of t-shirt designs (and when I do get to do t-shirt art, it's usually one color so I don't have to deal with color seps). So within the last couple days I've taught myself how to do color separations and how to make half tones. Yay. Lol.

Could I get some feedback on my design since this is my first attempt at the Derby? Pretty much wondering if...

1) artwork is poorly done or not
2) like/dislike the concept
3) something else

Just would like to get an idea from those of you who have been here awhile....there is some real talent here and i would be a fool not to take advantage of this place as a resource. Thanks!

Re: Bird Prom

Epilogue; Earlier this same year I ate out with my family at Mcdoodles, as we sat down to wait for our number to be called, my dad and i noticed that a small party of spiffed up high school boys had treated their lovely prom dates to the same high end outing.

the subject was brought up later when we noticed a poster on the other wall advertising happy meal toys for the movie "Rio". My dad then turned to me and asked "what would prom be like for birds?" given the fact that many male bird species are brighter and prettier than their female counterparts. And that's what sparked this monstrosity...

hope you like it as much as i do!

Re: Flapping Turtles

Turtles in the sky! Why are the turtles flying and the seaguls crawling?

The first submission was rejected because there wasn't a second subject for the theme. I added the bird and they look like they are laying down or crawling like turtles would do alot.

I hope this makes it through this time. I'm kind of rant out on options and time here ><

Thank you so much for all the kind words and support!
I've gotten a few requests to share how I created the fire effect with the flame thrower
So, I have made a post in the forum HERE

Also, there is a bit of controversy on whether or not I am a shameful plagiarist. If someone can think of a clever response to the whole issue, just send it to me and I'll pass it off as my idea.

Otherwise, I'll just let everyone else decide for themselves.

This made me laugh out loud. I love reading the comments about the shirts and especially seeing how the artists describe their work and respond to comments. I'm a fan of this shirt and of Rads not engaging in an internet argument. Agree to disagree and all that!

Re: Split Personality

It's lovely, but I think you should start spinning your story now about how it's related to this week's theme. Also, I'm not sure about this, but it might be outside Woot's printable area. You may want to call it a loss and submit it over at DBH, where I think it stands a better chance.
